The game breaking bugs that remain in Arkham Origins may never be fixed because DLC takes priority

As you may remember thanks to Bryan’s review of it way back in October, Batman: Arkham Origins had quite a few frustrating bugs and glitches, which to WB Montreal’s credit, it attempted to fix through a few post-launch patches (the latest of which being issued in December). However, even with these patches, many players are still experiencing not only technical glitches but game halting bugs that either corrupt save files or render certain missions impossible to complete.

So the developers are working on another patch right? Nope.

WB Montreal’s community manager recently explained on the Arkham Origins forum that the dev team isn’t currently working on another patch to finish off the remaining bugs and likely won’t because the development of the Season Pass DLC takes priority. If another patch does get rolled it, it will only address the bugs that block progression and leave the other glitches to continue failing about.

Here’s the full statement:

“The team is currently working hard on the upcoming story DLC and there currently are no plans for releasing another patch to address the issues that have been reported on the forums.

“If we do move forward with creating a new patch, it will try to address the progression blocking bugs for players, not the minor glitches that do not prevent one from continuing to play. The issues that are not progression blockers will unfortunately no longer be addressed.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused for some of you, and want to thank you for having been patient.”

That’s some fine customer service right there.

Look, I get it. The studio is obligated to give the Season Pass holders what they paid their $20 for (except the Wii U owners who recently got their money back). But at the same time, those who gave up $50-$60 of their hard-earned money and are still experiencing these issues also to deserve to get what they paid for, a fully functioning game!

The fact that a studio handling one of the biggest franchises in the medium, backed by one of the largest mutlimedia companies in the world, somehow can’t put the DLC aside for a bit to take the time to develop a much needed patch, is shameful. Hell, the Quebec government even gave the studio millions in extra funding. How can this patch not happen?!

To those of you who bought the Season Pass and aren’t encountering any issues, I hope the Mr. Freeze DLC delivers. To those of you who can’t complete the game, I hope you can get a fair trade-in.
