[gamescom] Microsoft reveals new Xbox One program for developers, ID@Xbox
Microsoft is attempting to become more indie game friendly with a new program called ID@Xbox. As revealed at gamescom 2013, the program is designed to support and spotlight indie games, and they'll even be providing all registered developers with two free Xbox One Dev kits!
At no cost to a developer, the program will also provide access to platform tools for Kinect compatibility, SmartGlass, multiplayer, achivements, Gamerscore, and more. Microsoft also seems to be granting "priority to independent game developers who have a proven track record of shipping games on console, PC, mobile or tablet."
Seems like a great way to get into developing for Xbox One, so long as you make the list. You can apply on the official ID@Xbox homepage.
Interesting, to bad I need to actually make a game before I can even consider having a dev kit.... I suppose that's how they'll prevent abuse of requests for a free Xbox One Dev Kit.
If the community controlled rating system returns to the One like it did on the 360 it won't even make it to marketplace.
I approve of this
And with tools to help develop for the Kinect, this could prove to be quite hilarious.
