A glitch reportedly canceled 3,000 pre-orders of BioShock: Infinite from Best Buy
If you happened to pre-order the latest installment to the BioShock series from Best Buy, then it’s possible your order got canceled, as a bug reportedly struck Best Buy’s system canceling 3,000 pre-orders for BioShock: Infinite. The bug affected both PS3 and Xbox 360 pre-orders, although it mostly leaned towards online orders. It is also unsure if this glitch affected just limited editions of the game, standard editions, or both.
However, before you storm into your local Best Buy, the major retailer is asking those who pre-ordered to check their e-mail and then contact customer service. If your pre-order was affected, Best Buy is offering a $10 gift card, which will arrive through the mail.
Hopefully this helped solved any problems, and that we can all look forward to receiving our copy of the game when BioShock: Infinite releases on March 26.
Hmm....that would stink for those unfortunate people.
This is an interesting article. I normally make gaming purchases at BestBuy.com rather than GameStop. I preordered Bioshock Infinite Song Bird edition at bestbuy.com, and preordered with my bestbuy cedit card.
Now bestbuy.com isn't like Gamestop.com, when using bestbuy credit card they take the money is immediately taken and paid for the item. So regardless the item is paid unless I cancel the order. Now if I used a different credit card/bank card the preorder an item no money or down payment is taken.
I bet when people used a bank or outside credit card their order was canceled by the glitch.
I feel like this kind of thing happened at GameStop once before and they didn't do anything about it.
Then again, it could just be me making up bad things about GameStop on impulse.
At least Best Buy is doing something about it.
