Gran Turismo 6 microtransactions reveal unbalanced economy and overpriced cars

12/5/13 5:00pm

With Gran Turismo 6 launching at the end of the week, everyone is curious what the pricing will be like for the in-game cars. Forza 5 has been universally berated for its economy, will GT6 make the same mistakes? The answer seems like a yes and then some. In a game where five dollars will get you almost thirty Mini Coopers, a '66 Jaguar XJ13 will cost 20 million in-game dollars which translates to 140 US dollars and isn’t likely the only vehicle that expensive.

In a world where time is money, this is borderline absurd and it isn’t likely that's the only expensive vehicle. I understand not wanting to just give away some of the best cars in the game Sony, but there has to be a better way of providing access to content, without insulting us with these ridiculous price points. It’s a goddamn piece of digital content that is nearly three times as expensive as the entire game filled more than 1200 other cars. Do I really have to explain why this looks foolish?
