Hackers crack BF3 Origin requirement
A group of hackers is giving Battlefield 3 PC gamers a way to play without having to install or run Origin, EA's required digital distribution platform.
The executable is specifically meant for retail versions of the game, which still require an Origin client and account to run.
Back in August, EA confirmed that Origin would be required to run store-bought versions of the Battlefield 3 PC edition. As you can guess, this didn't exactly help EA rack up the popularity points, and many saw the decision as a "trojan horse" method of marketing the digital platform. The move certainly didn't sit well with the hackers, who released the cracked executable allowing players to bypass Origin.

i think its just the fact that they are going through your stuff, makes people paranoid
Oh, that would be hillarious to see.
That picture made me a little scared everytime
Too much effort, people need to stop being so paranoid and thinking EA cares about how much porn they have.
just get the physical copy of TOR its that simple
well thats the thing, steam has built itself up as trustworthy and a alternative, if we used a metaphor...steam is your mother, who bakes you cookies and leaves you alone as long as you ring her once and awhile, origin on the other hand is your rude and crude friend who crashs at your place for the weekend and starts complaining when you arn't paying attention to them and then leaves all your white linen stained for all eternity
steam /is/ DRM it's just DRM that's done RIGHT.
Difference between Steam and Origin:
Steam asks for your permission every single time they want to collect information from your computer. You have to explicitly agree to this every time.
Origin just does whatever it want, whether you like it or not. That's the issue.
PC gamers know how to organize and keep developers and publishers honest and trustworthy. Valve worked their asses off for years to gain our trust, which is why we like them and why we give them our money. Of course if they decide to become more intrustive, they'll be called out on it and we'll take action.
anyone got the link for it? PM me
Indeed, couldn't have said it better myself.
Honestly, part of me hopes that EA tries. It could incur the wrath of Anon and put EA back in their place.
BF3 has been cracked, bypassing Origin completely since the day it was released. I always find this stuff pretty funny.
As long as they are actually paying for the game, that's cool.
i really dont see this origin thing any different than what valve has done, for every valve game that comes out you will need to have steam installed to play it; the only difference is steam is is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more trustworthy than origin, i mean for fuck sake y would you even need to rummage thru my shit? the only thing u will find are walking dead videos and a very organized library of porn
I agree with you
These hackers are heroes. I might actually buy BF3 now. <3
It's disgusting how much companies can get away with invading your privacy through EULA's/ToS and all that jazz.
Sure you could choose not to use EA's Origin but when they have exclusive products such as BF3 and the Star Wars MMO, you're pretty much just punishing yourself.
I also find it ironic that EA says "We do not have access to information such as pictures, documents or personal data.." in that article's first Hot-link since everything on a Personal Computer is personal.
so sweet now origin has no use at all for me
Hahahaha, feels good that your DRM only took a short amount of time to break EA? Do you realize that they do this because they don't like origin and that forcing it on people will only make them look for these cracks more.
This is great, but hopefully EA wont pull a sony and have their lawyers loose on the hackers, have it where it is illegal to modify (in this case remove) origen, and have their Terms of Conditions say they can't be sued.
Sooo . . . Things are working out for EA, aren't they? EA is now one of the most hated Publishers in the Gaming Industry . . . hoooooray.
I really love how big companies dont get their way and i actually talked today with a friend about BF3 and when i buy it, i would look for a method not having to use Origin and it took me one google search to find that nice piece of freedom.
