Halo 4 will require a HDD or 8 GB flash drive for online play

7/3/12 4:00pm

Halo 4 is Microsoft’s big thing this year, in more ways than one. After Joystiq scrolled through a recent products page on Xbox.xom, they figured out that "at a minimum, you’ll need at least an 8GB USB Flash Drive or an Xbox 360 Hard Drive to play Multiplayer mode in Halo 4." It doesn’t clarify which portion of the multiplayer requires this, but if you remember Halo Reach had a similar issue in regards to co-op.

So optional installs are becoming a thing of the past and by that logic,  it seems like the 4GB Xbox 360 should be as well. If there are core games which might limit a user’s opportunity to "fully enjoy the game" based on storage space, it doesn’t seem like smart business to sell a 4GB Xbox 360 anymore. You ruin the customer experience. What do you g1s think?

4 GB to a console nowadays is ridiculous in my opinion. They should put a 40 or 60 GB hard drive to the cheaper console.

I already install games to the hard drive, so this doesn't really matter to me.

It's ok for slim owners that have a spare flash drive, but for those that don't, I'm not sure they will want to shell out another £45 ($70) just to play multiplayer.

Me personally I thought the 4 GB model of the 360 was a bad idea to begin with anyway plus I install my games to the hard drive anyway and I can barely fit a game into a 4 GB hard drive.

Why are so many people upset that Microsoft decided to make a new Halo trilogy? Ninja Gaiden did the same thing, and no one said anything negative about it.

In any case, it's not that big of a deal, since you can find hard-drives for xbox360's for dirt cheap or use any kind of 8GB flash drive.

The Ninja Gaiden series had a 13 year break. Halo had 2. Why are you comparing two radically different scenarios anyway?

How are the 2 scenarios radically different? Ninja Gaiden finished it's first trilogy, came back for a second. Halo finished it's first trilogy, coming back for a second.

Ninja Gaiden on nes has nothing to do with the 360/ps3 version. also, ninja gaiden doesn't require to play all the games to understand the story (if they have one). but in halo's case, they were advertised the halo 3 as the end of the story (as there's no continuation after halo 3), but then halo prime (it's obviously trying to be like metroid prime) comes and continue the story were there's nothing to look forward to other than milking the series.

So it's buy the best they have to offer or don't buy anything at all. Who's idea was it for a system with only 4GBs of hard drive space? Considering that most games worth buying take up that much space if not more on their own. It really doesn't make sense to make a system with such limited space.
