Head of Platinum Games shows interest in buying the Darksiders IP after it failed to find a bidder...for the right price.

I think its safe to say that we are all saddened by the closure of THQ. With all but one of its franchises safely auctioned off, it seemed that Darksiders was destined to die a lonely death alongside the publisher. But fear not my fellow Darksider fans, for there is a glimmer of hope after all!

Head honcho of Platinum Games, Atsushi Inaba, posted this on his Twitter page late last night.

THQのスタジオ&IPバラ売りオークションで『DARKSIDERS』売れ残ったってマジか。買いたいなあ…安く…

Translation: "Oh man in THQ's big sale it looks like nobody bought Darksiders...I'd love to buy that (if it was cheap)."

This gives a glimmer of hope to the franchise! Right now, the Darksiders franchise is listed alongside THQ in their Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. An employee at Vigil, Ben Cureton, gave his goodbyes in a NeoGaf forum post. Here's to hoping Darksiders fans, as Platinum Games taking the helm of this franchise would be something I could get behind.

It was an awful situation. When I heard about the downfall, I was really worried that my favorite game would be gone along with it. But thanks to this news, I felt relieve now. - AflacAssist.com

this really seems good news for those who want a Darksiders sequel. However if they do buy it and develop one, will they recreate the combat system like previous games? or will they create their own and put it in the game?

I'd expect Darksiders to be easy money for platinum games. It has an established fan base i assume and it's an action game so it's right up their alley. all they gotta do make it more appealing and market it better. if there was anything that THQ sucked at, it was marketing, none of the trailers for Homefront, Darksiders and Metro made me want to play it and i can't even remember the last time i saw a trailer for company of heroes.

I get why no1 wanted to buy Darksiders. with two games out the series is practically over. Companies are more interested in series that they can put multiple games out and make a lot of money. Darksiders....they only have the option of putting out one, maybe two games then the story and series is over.....depending on how they write it out. Video games aren't like movies, you can't give them an actual reboot. its either sequels or prequels

How exactly, do you come to that idea? We still do not know what is happening with Fury and Strife, if they were aware of anything that was occurring and if they themselves were doing something to aid their fellow brother. They haven't even shown them in-game, as anything more than silhouettes and flaming comets.

Then of course, there is the sequel proper that carries on after the ending of Darksiders 1. That's 3 games easy.

And really, you can't give a game a reboot? Honestly? I guess we can ignore Tomb Raider, dmc Devil May Cry, and various other titles that have done exactly that.

While I do agree that Fury and Strife have yet to receive any attention, they are not as recognized as War and Death. Being that Fury and Strife are often replaced by Pestilence and Famine when talking about the Four Horsemen, while War and Death are not. I can see them featured in a game, but not their own respective games. maybe a game that allows you to play as all four, but thats about it

ok. I stand corrected on that. However, the Darksiders games were made too recently to get a remake now. Tomb Raider was released in 1996, 17 years ago. DMC was released in 2001, 12 years ago. Darksiders was released in 2010, only 3 years ago. Tomb Raider and DMC were released more than a decade ago.

If Platinum gets it maybe I'll actually care about Darksiders.
