This morning Nintendo announced via Nintendo Direct an HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. To save you some time, we've compiled all the screen shots of the game right off the Nintendo Direct stream. Is Wind Waker the right game to be receiving an HD remake after just a decade?

Like a couple of others I think this HD remake is unnecessary. Are they really doing a remake of one of the few 3d games that aged well.

I'm just disappointed that after everything Operation Moonfall has done we're not getting an HD remake of Majora's Mask. Personally, I think that GameCube era graphics still hold up well, whereas N64 graphics obviously don't. Unless they add a ton of new content to this remake (it pains me to say this since Zelda is my favorite game series) I won't be purchasing this game.

they have said their considering a Majora's mask remake for 3DS if that makes you feel any better. I too would love an updated majora, but i'm excited for HD Wind Waker too.

They blatantly told us that the Wind Waker HD is coming out this fall, end of story, we're not going to get Majora's Mask.

i never played the original Wind Waker, but this might make me get a Wii U. MIGHT. though i think it would've been awesone if this and Majora's Mask were remade for the 3DS.

It baffles me that they made a hd rerelease for this game. Its not like the visuals have aged horribly like in others.

No, but: 1) the zelda team needs experience on the new system before they fully devote themselves to a big Zelda game so this is the perfect way to do it fast. 2) the Wii U is not gamecube compatible so your Wind Waker won't work on it and as the GC was the worst selling nintendo home console there is a big market for an amazing Zelda game that few got the chance to enjoy 3) even if you do have the GC the graphics, whilst not outdated, don't look as amazing on an HD tv as they did on an SD one. Its blurry and pixelated and its really annoying (Mario galaxy 2 on my HD tv looked aweful and its one of my favorite games of all time). So its good to get it. 4) This is a "till we can give you the full experience" type game. They even said it in the announcement. Its there to hold people over and not to be a big announcement.
