Heroes of Newerth finally becomes "free to own"

Those of you who play the popular PC RTS title, Heroes of Newerth will be happy to hear that S2 Games will no longer force players to pay up, if they want access to any characters that are not a part of the designated 16-hero pools. Starting tomorrow, all players will have free access to the full 107-hero roster!

If you have previously paid for any of the extra heroes, don’t let this effort to “level the playing field” get you down. Anyone who has purchased characters over the past couple weeks will be given a full refund, while anyone who has paid for a character ever, will be given a free Mecha Gemini avatar.

The game’s director Pu Liu said S2 is hoping this move will both attract new players and make the competition aspect of the game completely fair and balanced.

“As gamers, we all know that games are more fun to play with friends, and All Heroes Free will make it easier for players to bring their friends to the game. This new model will also level the eSports playing field, as all players will be able to build their skills and advance their strategies with any hero they choose.”

So, you get a roster of 107 unique characters absolutely free? Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.
