These are the rules of ScrewAttack. Play nice.
Hey g1s! I know some of you have been here for a long time, maybe even a very long time. Others have been here not so long, and might've even come on the scene as recent as Goku vs. Superman. If that's the case, welcome to ScrewAttack! We like to think that we have one of the friendliest, most welcoming, creative, and engaging communities on the Internet. If you came here from somewhere like YouTube or Gametrailers, you'll notice the g1s are generally a friendlier and more open minded bunch. We've had these rules in the forum this whole time, but it would be good to have them here on the main site. This list isn't too deep, it's pretty straightforward stuff, and if you can't abide by these rules then you probably won't be around long anyways.
EVERYONE IS WELCOME HERE!
One of the things about ScrewAttack is that as we grew out of being just a retro site and doing news, reviews, along with just getting older, our audience has grown and become more diverse. Welcome the people who are new to ScrewAttack openly and if they need guidance, help them find their way instead of shunning them. They have to find their place in the community like everyone else did before them. First impressions can go a long way and set what other people see as “the tone of the g1 community.” That has led to some lousy consequences like people getting banned and it shouldn't have to be that way.
SEE THAT USERNAME AND AVATAR? THERE'S A PERSON BEHIND THOSE
Think about what you're putting in that reply window. Would you really say that to another person in the real world? To their face? We know with things like Goku vs. Superman reactions can be heated and felt strongly but give it a moment before you click send. If what you're about to say or how you're going to say it would get the crap kicked out of you in a bar, choose your words better or just erase them. Save your inner e-thug for somewhere else.
AND CHECK THOSE FEELINGS AT THE LOGIN SCREEN
We will not tolerate excessive swearing, flaming, instigating of other members, sexually explicit or pornographic material, NO Racism, sexist remarks, bigotry or personal attacks on other members of any sort.
TO FOLLOW UP ON THAT, PLEASE DON'T BE A DICK
Don't go starting flame wars, refrain from the personal attacks, and insults don't help anything. If someone is being the aforementioned dick, don't be a dick in return. If someone is trolling, DON'T FEED THE TROLL. Try to keep things civil, and if someone can't play nice, let one of our Admins or Moderators know.
SAY HELLO TO OUR ADMINS AND MODS!
These are the good people who can help take care of spambots, dicks, authentication issues, things that don't belong like solicitations, and generally help keep the peace on ScrewAttack. If one of them tells you to calm down or dial back whatever you're doing to draw their attention, listen to them. Don't argue. You can speak to them like reasonable people if you don't think something was done fairly, but be warned: three warnings from these guys and the banhammer gets dropped!
And those warnings? They're for the mainsite AND the forums, so keep that in mind.

IF PEOPLE ARE BEING DICKS IN THE FACEBOOK COMMENTS:
Rather than get in an e-peen waving flame war, if you go to the top right corner of a post, a button will appear labeled 'mark as spam.' If you click on that, it will give you the option to report the person's comment or block that person entirely. If one person blocks someone, that only blocks them from that individual's view. If you don't like how someone is acting, you have a way to take care of things yourself.
AS FOR ADVANTAGE MEMBERS RUNNING THE RISK OF A BAN:
If you have a monthly Advantage membership and get banned, you can end your Advantage membership, no worries. If you bought a year membership of Advantage and are banned, there are NO REFUNDS. Just like Xbox Live or if you bought a ticket to a concert, if you couldn't abide by the rules and got yourself kicked out, that's tough luck on your part.
STILL A PART OF THE COMMUNITY? JOIN IN ON THE FUN!
If you're reading blogs or watching videos, leave a comment! Join the discussion! Let the creator know they did well or what they can work on(but getting back to that don't be a dick part...). Subscribe to the content creators that you like so you know when they've put out something new! Let them know on their wall how much you like their stuff!
WANT TO HAVE A DEEPER DISCUSSION THAN YOU FEEL YOU GET IN COMMENTS OR ON A WALL? THERE'S THE FORUMS FOR THAT! http://forums.screwattack.com/index.php
A FEW THINGS FOR CONTENT POSTERS
Welcome to blogging and posting videos on ScrewAttack, we've had many people begin here and find internet success as content producers. Maybe you're the next one? If you've already got a bunch of episodes to post here, please space them out over time. There are a lot of people working hard on their own blogs or videos that want to be seen as much as you do. Please give them the courtesy of sharing the spotlight by not pushing down their work with everything you've done from the last two years. If you've got a lot of YouTube videos from the past, maybe use their playlist function and only have to make a single post?
As for the folks interested in posting news or trailers or funny videos, please check if what you want to post isn't on ScrewAttack already. There's no karma to be whored here, just the ire of people who see a repost pushing their content back a page for something we've already seen.
If our content posting system is looking a little overwhelming, you can consult the ScrewAttack Style Guide for some tips on how to make your content look its best.
Oh, and no spamming/solicitation. Kickstarter kind of things and charity drives are fine, but that's where we're drawing the line.
PRETTY SURE THAT COVERS THE IMPORTANT STUFF
A lot of that is standard operating stuff but if you ever need a reminder on how things are supposed to work around here, now you have this in the Community drop down menu to consult. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We believe we have one of the best communities on the internet, and these simple rules should help keep it that way!
