Well, I guess the writing was on the wall. G4, the network that kept us plugged in for 10 long years, just when it found its footing with Attack of the Show!, Ninja Warrior, and X-Play, is gonna get killed off next year.

NBC Universal, the channel's parent company said that it's looking to change to "a more sophisticated look while remaining true to its tech and vid game roots" by turning into a TV version of GQ and eschewing its nerd focus in favor of something more "modern male".

And there you have it, g1s. The channel that kept us plugged in for 10 long-ass years, had some ups and downs (Game On, anyone?), acquired a competing tech network, exiled Leo Laporte to Canada and made him later start his own tech website. They made Olivia Munn jump in a giant chocolate pie, eat a hot dog and confront a fear of balloons; but now they're turning thru GQ lane down right of Modern Male Blvd and frankly, I'm gonna miss it.

I always liked AotS, but I loved it when it was Candace and Adam. XPlay was always fun. Ninja Warrior would glue me in the chair for as long as they aired. They had a few original history based programs that started to fill a void of a complete lack of quality telling of the crazy ass history that video games have. I enjoyed it and hope some quality game programming makes its way onto the new channel. Yeah, Cops and Cheaters were lame, but thats nothing to hate the channel for. I always hoped they would have dedicated a slab of time to all the amazing internet talent out here. Maybe something with that.

Oh no, where am I going to watch Cops and Cheaters! now!? But seriously, I havent avidly watched G4 since they removed TechTv from the channel's name. It had some good stuff for a bit, but seriously, its like a second Spike TV now, but with even less variety. Glad to hear that TechTV might get a revival, but I really doubt any of the old stars are coming back. Heres hoping Sess and the others get some of their own stuff going soon!
