Carrey will be portraying Colonel Stars, a reformed villain / born-again Christian tough guy. In the comics, he and his partner Lieutenant Stripes form a superhero team called Justice Forever which Kick-Ass later joins. This group will be a part of the story in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, most likely to battle against the antagonist Red Mist.
Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar expressed excitement once word broke out that the funnyman actor was locked up for the role.
I'll admit, I didn't watch Kick-Ass and know next to nothing about the story. Jim Carrey coming on board gets me a little intrigued though. I'm sure there will be a lot more buzz on his inclusion once the first trailer is released. Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is scheduled to be out June 28th, 2013.

This could be potentially awesome, just look at Nicolas Cage in the first Kick-Ass, his performance was one of the best in that movie and one of his best performances in recent years. He pretty much surprised everyone. Jim Carrey could do the same, i think in a way this movie will fit his style being over the top, i just hope not over the top like the riddler performance he did.

After seeing Jim Carrey star in a lot of pretty crappy movies over the past few years I can't say I'm excited, but I'm hoping that this movie makes me like him again. He was pretty awesome in The Mask and Dumb & Dumber after all.
