Jim Carrey cast as Colonel Stars in 'Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall'
Looks like the Kick-Ass sequel is getting an extra dose of wackiness. Comedic legend Jim Carrey has officially been signed on to be a part of the over-the-top superhero follow-up to the 2010 film.
Carrey will be portraying Colonel Stars, a reformed villain / born-again Christian tough guy. In the comics, he and his partner Lieutenant Stripes form a superhero team called Justice Forever which Kick-Ass later joins. This group will be a part of the story in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, most likely to battle against the antagonist Red Mist.
Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar expressed excitement once word broke out that the funnyman actor was locked up for the role.
I'll admit, I didn't watch Kick-Ass and know next to nothing about the story. Jim Carrey coming on board gets me a little intrigued though. I'm sure there will be a lot more buzz on his inclusion once the first trailer is released. Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is scheduled to be out June 28th, 2013.
Yep. It's my favourite anime.
The people who made the comics?
Who said this movie needed a sequel?
Will do! I threw it in my Amazon wish list to remind me.
Don't tell me that's a GTO avatar pic. I freakin' LOVED that anime! I even got my girlfriend hooked on it. ;)
LOL What a train wreck
All excellent films!
I saw Phillip Morris also. It's really an underrated performance by both Carrey and Ewan McGregor.
This could be potentially awesome, just look at Nicolas Cage in the first Kick-Ass, his performance was one of the best in that movie and one of his best performances in recent years. He pretty much surprised everyone. Jim Carrey could do the same, i think in a way this movie will fit his style being over the top, i just hope not over the top like the riddler performance he did.
oh yeah, logicallydashing. WATCH KICK-ASS. The movie is awesome
After seeing Jim Carrey star in a lot of pretty crappy movies over the past few years I can't say I'm excited, but I'm hoping that this movie makes me like him again. He was pretty awesome in The Mask and Dumb & Dumber after all.
This could potentially be a good choice.
He could do better. I guess this is as good a time as any to recommend 'I Love You, Phillip Morris' to you all.
Did...did you not see Eternal Sunshine? Or The Truman Show? Or I Love You Phillip Morris?
One of the only two movies he has done
There are a lot worse out there
Well I thought Nick Cage was going to suck in the first one but I was pleasantly surprised.
They probably will, their was some changes from the book to film. One change even Mark miller agrees with is with Big Daddy's Origin being a slight lie, he even agreed that plot twist probably wouldn't work well on film.
I did a quick Wiki search on the second book...hehe Kick-Ass delivering Justice on bad films.
I want this.
I wonder if they'll take as many creative liberties with the sequel as they did with the first one.
