Kaz Hirai is no longer the Chairman of the Board for Playstation

6/27/12 4:00pm

With Kaz assuming Howard Stringers responsibility as President and CEO of Sony Corporation as a whole, he probably has a full plate. So Kaz is ditching his Playstation responsibilities as Representative Director and Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment. He will be succeeded by Andrew House, President of SCE, and will still assume some part-time responsibilities on the board as a whole.

Andrew on the other hand has a tough road ahead with all board members being Japanese executives, one of which is his boss. Kaz’s departure is important because he climbed the ranks of Sony through SCE and succeeded the “father of Playstation” Ken Kutaragi. It should be noted that Howard Stringer has been retired from the board completely. Business stuff.

If Howard Stringer never became CEO Sony would be better then they are now. Howard should have never became CEO. Didn't Kaz start in Sony Music? If so he's come a long way.
