Kazuo Hirai named Sony President

Today Sony announced that Kazuo Hirai will take over as president and chief executive officer of Sony. This was rumored in the being of beginning of January but Sony said what it always does "we do not comment on rumors" etc, etc. He will be replacing Howard Stringer who will be joining the chairmen of the board.

Kazuo joined Sony in 1984 and has become a big part of everything Sony. With Sony going into it 4th consecutive year of losses Hirai has some work to do to get Sony back to what it was. In a statement Hirai said "The path we must take is clear - to drive the growth of our core electronics businesses."

Hirai will take over April 1st of this year. As a Sony fan I’m happy about this. And I hope the best for Hirai I just hope we still get to see him at E3. What do you g1s think about the change?
