Kid Icarus will become a 3D Classic

10/21/11 10:40am

During the recent Nintendo Press Conference, it was revealed that Kid Icarus will be finally arriving on the 3DS in 2012.  As part of a Club Nintendo Japan campaign, it isn't the long awaited reboot Kid Icarus: Uprising. Instead, the NES classic Kid Icarus will be coming to the e shop as a 3D Classic. This should help bolster excitement leading up to Uprisings release.

Anyone who participates will receive the classic title for free and be entered to win 1 of 3,000 unique 3DS systems. To enter you will only need to register two 3DS titles between October 1 and January 15. The game itself will be fre in Japan on December 19th and available to everyone iafter January 15th.

The 3D Classics are digital downloads for the Nintendo 3DS, which have received a 3D upgrade. Stays tuned to the site for the official release date and let us know about any other NES games that should be getting the 3D Classic treatment in the comments.

How significant are the chances from the 3D options? It raises the cost of the product by a few dollars, so I'm wondering if it's actually worth the increased price.

I have the same question. And how do you participate, especially if you don't own a 3DS?

I think the game registration applies to all Nintendo games, not just 3DS ones, so it should be easy enough (should they do it outside of Japan)
