Let’s take a nice long look at the new Dual Shock 4 and PS4 Eye
PS4 has been revealed and with it comes new accessories. Now since the console itself exists only in my mind, let’s instead take a look at the new controller and camera for the PS4. Here are all the pictures Sony released from the event last night.*
Obviously the Dual Shock 4 is exactly what the rumors predicted. You have the Share button, an Options button, touchpad with click, six axis, light bar, speaker, and a headphone jack. It also continues to use Bluetooth, which will hopefully mean that PS3 controllers might also work despite missing a few new features.
The PlayStation 4 Eye is an even more startling improvement, sporting a video framerate of 1280x800 pixel @ 60fps. It uses dual lenses to capture depth more accurately and adds more precision to the existing Move controllers. Like the Kinect, it now has a 4 Channel Microphone Array, hopefully making voice command functionality more of an option for the future of PlayStation.
It is kind of strange that Start and Select buttons are no longer on the controller. I had also hoped that they wouldn’t rest the Dual Shock 4 on the L2/R2 triggers… The design looks pretty sexy though, so I’m not too upset by either decision. What do you guys think?
