Let's look at why Nintendo thinks 2013 will be the year of Luigi

As many of you are probably aware, Nintendo held another Nintendo Direct today and it looks like Luigi will finally have his time to shine. Nintendo announced that 2013 will be the year of Luigi and their upcoming line-up of games reflect that. They touched a bit more on Luigi’s spooktacular adventure Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, but then revealed a few unannounced titles as well.

The first is a new Mario RPG called Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. While it looks to still star the man in red, Mario will be diving into Luigi’s dreams (Inception anyone?). We don’t really have much information on the game as a whole, but it looks to be arriving in North America this summer.

Then you have New Super Mario Bros. U getting a Luigi specific expansion. Specifically called New Super Luigi U, the expansion or “large scale” DLC will have Luigi playing through remixed version of the original levels. Again, not much else to go on, but it will be available for download on the eShop later this year.

Lastly, Luigi will be a playable character in Mario Golf World Tour.  Yup, this somehow is supposed to surprise us. The game will be launching exclusively for 3DS this summer.

More Nintendo Direct news is inbound, but until then, how’s it looking so far g1s?
