Lousy’s Artistic Art Presentation of Art! (Art Edition!)

Art! ART! ARGHT! ARRARART! ARRRRRRT! ARTY ART ART!

Greetings g1s and happy New Year! It has been a joy to finally be done with my first semester of college, kick back, and do nothing but game, and mess around for a few days. Over this Winter Break, I had the chance to rediscover a lost passion of mine. ART!

Before I fell in love with writing, my other great passion in this world was drawing. I would spend hours upon hours trying to draw whatever I could. This sadly was quite a while ago, and I haven’t been giving my love of drawing the attention I used to. It’s depressing to think of what I might have been capable of if I had stuck with it. But even though I’ve grown more used to expressing myself through writing, the burning soul of an artist never has, and never will leave me! I’ve made a good variety of drawings over this break. I thought it was time I showed my work to a few of my fellow community members. Consider this blog a bit of a thank you for all the great times the Screwattack community has given me over the past year or so of me being a part of it.

MadWorld is one of my favorite Wii games. It’s violent, over-the-top as all hell, and had an art style I really enjoyed. When brainstorming what kind of artwork I could make to homage such a brutal game, I did the only logical thing. I turned the game’s brawling, chainsaw wielding badass into a pony…It made a lot of sense at the time. And thus, my two hobbies of playing violent video games, and watching a show about pastel-colored ponies became one. I had trouble working in the cutie-mark, because Jack is supposed to be wearing pants. In the end I did give him the pants he wore in the actual game, I just added the symbol, which was supposed to be his cutie-mark onto the sides.

Fullsized image, if this is too small.

The Official DEATH BATTLE Fan Blog and I don’t go into nearly as much detail in our predictions, when compared to Wiz and Boomstick, but we have our own means of testing the capabilities of fictional characters. I took all of our avatars/fan-made characters, and showed how a typical analysis goes for us. In our official test room, from left to right is: Samurai Spartan 7000’s Samurai Boba-Fett, psb123’s VERY simplified Fighter, AkumaTH’s…Penguin, and my very own character, Mark Grey (essentially the Black Mage if he were a mafia hitman…With a tophat and a trench-coat).

I began work on it before Samurai Spartan and psb changed their avatars, so it’s a little dated, but I like how it came out. My character’s statement is poking fun at the frustration I have towards…A certain group of fans who believe their preferred character can move at Mach 26 speeds. Psb123 is thinking about Sonic and The Last Airbender because he seems to obsess over those franchises a lot. Samurai Spartan is thinking about Unicron VS. Galactus because that is his most wanted fight. And AkumaTH’s…Penguin is just shouting, “KNEW IT” because I couldn’t think of anything creative for him to say. My only regret is I didn’t use Samurai’s new avatar. The laser dinosaur looks more interesting. I was considering coloring and shading the image, but felt the black and white style suited it best.

Oh you’ll get the pictures…Trust me.

I’ve been impressed with what my Wii U has offered so far, but I’m not going to lie, my favorite part of the console isn’t the games (yet). It’s a certain Miiverse community! For those who don’t know, Destructoid review editor, Jim Sterling, has a bit of an obsession with famed actor, Willem Dafoe. Every week he does a podcast where he either sexually harasses his friend Jonathan, or makes up fake Willem Dafoe movie pitches (or both). The movie pitches in question tend to be incredibly fucked up. Sterling went so far with this obsession, that there is now an optional Willem Dafoe-themed background for the Destructoid homepage and a wiki page describing all the Willem Dafoe movie pitches he has made in horridly descriptive detail (yes, there's an actual wiki for this).

What does all of this have to do with Miiverse communities? After realizing how terrible of a game Rabbids Land is, Jim pointed out how the Rabbids look sort of like Willem Dafoe (he probably thinks a lot of things look like Willem Dafoe). What followed was him declaring that the Rabbids Land Miiverse would be better off if it was dedicated to his patron saint, and Wii U owners everywhere flooding the community with drawings of the actor. Which essentially meant people took whatever pop-culture character, or inanimate object they could find, and gave it blood-shot eyes, a devilish smile, and wrinkles (what else defines Dafoe more?). The Dafoeverse had been born! And I’ve been a proud contributor to this amazing community!

Sadly, I lack a recording device that can capture console footage in 1080P, and you DO NOT want to see these recorded in 480i P, so non-Wii U owners will have to forgive me. These photos of the drawings in HD were the best I could get, but I think they look fine. All Wii U owners, with an HD set-up, can see the wrinkled details of my wondrous Willem Dafoe drawings, and ones like it, on the Rabbids Land Miiverse page, in glorious high-definition! Trust me many of the drawings on it put my own work to shame.

An uncanny resemblance, I know.

Not the most inspired work I’ve made, but I like to think my very first Miiverse drawing of Willem Dafoe has some charm to it.

Willem Dafoe as a cup of coffee.

Willem Dafoe as a jackhammer.

Willem Dafoe as a cat.

Willem Dafoe dressed as a Pikmin.

Frosty Dafoeman.

Dafoshi.

And my personal favorites: Dafoku, and SuperDafoe!

Here’s a photoshopped image of Willem Dafoe holding bacon just as an extra.

I swear I only added the bacon. No physical alterations were made to Willem Dafoe’s face.

Now that I’ve presented some of my own works I would like to take a moment to highlight a creation of my friend, Alpha Unit’s. After I showed a liking to a drawing he made for a certain ferret, Alpha Unit decided to use my Professor Layton Pony avatar as inspiration to create…This magnificent work of beauty, technique, and artistry!

Full-sized image.

Just look at it! The detail, the expressive figure! What you see before you is the product of universal refinement! This picture is so magnificent it is currently my Twitter avatar, and will be my Twitter avatar for a LONG time. It is an image of the endless power humanity has nurtured throughout its existence! All lies and deceit that exist in the world tremble before this image!

I’ve already thanked Alpha Unit before, but I cannot repeat it enough. THANK YOU Alpha Unit! Thank you for giving me hope for humanity in the form of a grinning, overweight, caricaturized, horse with a top-hat! I also attempted to bastardize my own avatar with a drawing. The result wasn’t a fraction as amazing. In fact, I wouldn’t blame Alpha Unit if he found it insulting I’d compare my lowly work to the grand achievement he made with his own two hands, but I think mine is passable.

The eyes I particularly like.

That wraps up my little art escapade. Happy New Year g1s! Maybe next break, or when I take a bunch of ARRRRT classes I’ll have more insights into my messed up mind to present. Until then I wish you all luck in this brand new year!

Sincerely, Sir Hershel Lousyton Von Karmistico Armandago Gantson McDowell IV.

I've actually gained inspiration to try and draw your avatar with a Willem Dafoe face shouting, "I LOVE THE MOVIE ANTICHRIST"! Hopefully I'll get the motivation to create it and show it to you.
