Love Resident Evil 2? Well Capcom is teasing you with a remake

Coming from a GameSpot interview with Eddie Makuch, Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi teased fans with hope of a Resident Evil 2 remake. No nothing is being worked on right now, but if Capcom thinks the demand is there, then why not? Here is Hirabayashi’s official position…

"Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now, but if the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration."

With Resident Evil 6 releasing for PS3 and Xbox 360 next month, Capcom will know firsthand whether or not there is interest. Gamecube saw a re-release of the first game in 2002 and it was later ported to Wii in 2008. Maybe they should release that on PSN and XBLA to determine if the audience really wants and HD remake of 2, because those Facebook petitions don’t change anything.
