Mario Tennis Open has official trailer and release date
Mario Tennis Open is the newest first party title in the 3DS arsenal. It is a game where speed meets strategy and players leave it all on the court. Ok, it’s just Mario Tennis on 3DS, but that still sounds like a great to me. The biggest new feature is the way you interact with friends. There is still the classic local play for up to 4 players (over WiFi), but now you can play online with your friends, or play an open match against a stranger (stranger danger).
There will be some form of online progression, including leaderboards, and various events. There will of course be implementation of new control schemes like using the touch-screen will supplement buttons for specific volleys and the gyroscope can be used to look around the court by tilting the 3DS. Intense rallies and Peach in a mini-skirt are all coming to the 3DS on May 20th. Enjoy the teaser.

I don't know why Nintendo can't make a tennis game with Mario as the referee & some generic characters as the playable ones like they did with the Game Boy game & Super Tennis for the SNES (which I don't think even had Mario in it). Who cares if you get to play as Mario. It's the gameplay & controls that are important & make it a fun game. They don't have to plaster Mario's face over it to be good or for it to have good sales as those games I referred to proved in the past.
