Michael Bay responds to the TMNT outrage

tl;dr

Michael wants us to "chill" over him crushing all of our childhood memories.

So Michael Bay has said that the new Live-Action TMNT movie is going to have the Turtles star as Aliens. That’s right, FUCKING ALIENS.

Obviously, the internet freaked out and there are numerous blogs and videos on it already. Recently, he replied to fans outrage, and this is what he has said:

"Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."

This is complete bullshit and just a cheap move to try to get fans to back off. But they won't.

Mike, if you ever read this, which he obviously won't, but if you do, please take this with a grain of salt.

You aren't making a new franchise. You are making a REMAKE. Read that again. REMAKE. You don't need t create a new world, because it’s already there. Also, "creating a new background"? You're not "creating" a new background, you’re completely throwing out what has been set in all of our minds as kids, and completely changing it.

There is no possible way to try to keep everything we liked about the Turtles with them being from outer space. Remember the movie "Secret of The Ooze"? The main plot of that movie was based on the stuff that made the Turtles Mutants!

I should also mention how mad I'm getting and I'm a new age Turtles fan. (I watched the early 2000's show.) I can only imagine how mad original Turtle fans are getting...

Now, some questions. Why are they are called the TMNT? Doesn't TMNT Stand for Teenage MUTANT Ninja Turtles? Now with your "brilliant" idea, they are now the TANT. TANT. Doesn't sound too good. Also, if they are from outer space, how did they learn Kung-Fu? Wasn’t Kung-Fu created on, I don't know, EARTH? And how does Splinter fit into all of this?

You can read the forum post yourself, with all of his idiot minions going along with him. Such geniuses are saying, "I trusted you with Transformers!" If this actually happens, I don't know what I'll do.

I really want to see a petition end this. Because this is wrong, Michael Bay.

Let's say Bay wanted to make a Pokemon live-action movie. The characters you love are still there, but now the Pokemon are actually an alien race. Is this not completely retarded to you?

An excellent point. It's not like Bay's version will alter the past, and it most likely won't become the basis of everything turtles to come. Besides, who knows? It might be good. It's not likely, but it might. So relax, if your childhood is ruined it's your fault because you cared that much about this film.

You completely misunderstood my point. I wasn't saying it's the fans fault for caring about TMNT. I'm a fan of TMNT myself. I'm saying that if this news bothers you, it's your fault for caring about this film in particular. If this really bothers you, and you really are a fan of TMNT, don't watch it. I can see being upset with someone making changes if it was going to become the benchmark to which everyone would follow, but it's Michael Bay. You can't possibly have expected this to be at all accurate to the series, nor will it most likely be received well.

Unlike Lucas, the old TMNT stuff will still be readily available. The reason people hate Lucas so much isn't specifically because he's making changes, but because he's basically trying to erase the originals. Bay isn't doing that, so relax.
