Remember when I said that it felt like Disney was just using Mickey as a product of the market and was a shadow of his former self?  You don't?  Well allow me to refresh your memory because of relevancy!

Now that you're all caught up. Disney has just announced that Mickey Mouse is set to star in a 19 episode run of 2D animated shorts with an ensemble creative team.  Executive producer Paul Ruddish of Dexter's Laboratory and Powerpuff Girls fame, Aaron Springer from Spongebob Squarepants and Clay Morrow from Powerpuff Girls sharing the director's chair and Josh Holton (also from Powerpuff Girls) is in charge of art direction.

It's looking to be a good run if this first bit is any indicator.  It really feels like they're trying to capture that same charm that the old Mickey Mouse cartoons and for the most part, succeeds in doing so.  My only complaint is that the animation is... too good.  But when the worst thing you can say about a cartoon is that it looks far too fluid, you know that this is the epic comeback that Mickey Mouse deserves.  And not a damn pony in sight!
