Microsoft confirms the Xbox One will not use region locks
Word to Microsoft: You don't earn consumer trust in one day!
So they just went back on litterally everything didn't they? I still see no reason to get it. I see no reason to hate it now but no reason to get it either.
I can't understand Battle Stadium DON or Jump Ultimate Stars, but I have still played both like crazy. Gameplay is still accessible even if you don't know the language. Plus some people learn Japanese/have an online guide.
Still not getting one.
Yay, no region locks...for all those regions that will be making Xbox One games. I mean, the US...maybe Europe...
The only time I ever need region lock to not be there is on Japanese games, which I doubt there will be any with on One. So its a good though/spirit but in effect it probably won't mean much (unless you can get international copies cheaper).
(Sorry don't know why this came up as a reply to your comment, only my first one was supposed to do that.)
No, not at all. The media reported that they got a RUMOR that it will have 'this' or 'that', and many were contradictory and most were just reprints of supposed features of the PS3/360/Sega Genesis when they had rumors. Rule #1: All rumors are BS until E3 reveal.
I never really understood the big deal for region locks. Yeah not having them means you can import and play Japanese games w/o having to mod the system but what's the point when I can't even read or understand Japanese in the first place?
Can stop reporting about the xbox one for two seconds and instead have a story on how the media was able to spend 2 months releasing unconfirmed "leaks" as facts about this system, every single one of which has turned out to be untrue, without any backlash from the gaming community?
I mean, yes, MS did a horrible job of selling this system and providing us with the information we wanted, but that shouldn't mean the media gets a pass, in fact there whole JOB is sorting though the BS and finding us the information we are looking for. It's just shameful and unthinkable how mislead we were.
Oh, and guess what - Zune Marketplace and GFWL Marketplace are going away this week, along with Microsoft Points. So if you have been waiting to buy that Arkham City DLC (and DON'T have the Steam version), go buy it now!
