Microsoft denies recent rumors of Halo 1-3 arriving on Steam anytime soon

2/6/13 6:04pm

Microsoft has denied rumors of the original Halo trilogy would be arriving on Steam in the near future after the games were listed in a leaked database file.

Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, and Halo 3 were among the list of games recently leaked from a Steam database file which Valve uses to update and plan out future releases of games for their Steam store.

Of the games only Halo 2 and Halo 3 had actual links which was quickly taken down although a test/alpha link for Halo 3 still remains active.

While Microsoft stated they have no current plans to release any Halo games in the near future, they did not completely rule out the games possibly arrive in the future.

Here is the complete list recently leaked:

  • La-Mulana
  • The Splatters
  • Octodad: Dadliest Catch Beta
  • Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition (Duke Nukem 3D+)
  • Super House of Dead Ninjas
  • Fez
  • Fast and Furious 6
  • Lococycle
  • Yogventures!
  • Dyad
  • Cut the Rope
  • Shadow Warrior Complete
  • Retro/Grade
  • Resident Evil: Revelations
  • Quantum Conundrum 2
  • Halo 3
  • Halo 2
  • Halo: Combat Evolved
  • The Witness
  • Angry Birds Space
  • Angry Birds Seasons
  • Second Life

King of Fighters XIII, '98UM and 2002UM have also been found on their database recently. Though so has Final Fantasy VII for a long while with no plans to release it there in sight. Well, at least it shows there are plans, if nothing more.

The release of Halo 3 kinda of bucks the trend of them releasing the PC version of their console game 3 years after it's initial debut, but better late than never for the PC users that favor the Steam client. They're only denying it now because they haven't prepared a formal announcement. Remember, this is the same thing Microsoft did when people found Steam Support for Xbox Live in the forums at Valve.

Guys we're overlooking the most important leaked games. Angry Birds and Cut the Rope games are going to be available to purchase on Steam! This will revolutionize EVERYTHING

I honestly don't see why Microsoft won't put it's most popular game series on computers.

They're still using it as a driving force to get people to buy the Xbox consoles to take the marketshare away from their competitors. They're making more money in the Entertainment and Devices Division globally than they do in the Software and Development Division for the first time ever. I know it sounds silly, but they are in competition with themselves. They will let the console version run it's course with the grey market until it's plateaued off and then release a PC version with all the DLC in the box (potentially alongside a Platinum Hits version of the console edition).

Halo 1- 3 on steam NO WAY!!! Microsoft wants to remake 2 and 3 for the 720 so they can have a Halo to sell every year lol

Microsoft has always been a douche bag, just like EA.

I hope someday steam can stick it to 'em But I would seriously like to to see ALL halo games available for PC, preferably Steam.
