Online coop in a mario game sounds like an awful idea to me.
Played the game at London Comic Con, its fun only if you play with fun players in coop but other than that this game doesn't really spark my interest.
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Sonic Lost World are the better games truely worth your time.
I have an idea. Include a camera accessory and in online co-op have the option to turn on the camera and let the players see each other through the camera. you could put the camera feeds on the bottom or wherever. This way you have the convenience of online but you can still see the other players. Unless they want their privacy and opt out of using the camera. I totally understand where Nintendo is coming from but the problem is I don't have 3 friends to call over for co-op. So without the ability to call upon people online the co-op feature is pretty much useless to me.
Normally I lambast them for being naive but Mario 3D World isn't exactly what I'd call the kind of game built to effectively use online co-op. Seriously, are people really asking that? Because it should be obvious that online co-op and platformers don't mix.
Sorry, WHAT? Last I checked, they're the same exact thing, save for the distance between the players. As a Nintendo fan, I know we're all used to them doing the same thing, but this fan grew up. This fan's local gaming buddies have different schedules that keep them from coming over to his house whenever for a co-op run, so it's a matter of simple inconvenience at this point.
I'm okay with them not inculcating it now. Though I'm still a little disappointed that online wasn't available in NSMBU...
That still sounds like a cop out to me. Realistically how often are you going to get 3 other people to drop everything so they can go to your house to play Mario? Adults have work, maybe college, and other responsibilities. Kids have school and are stuck with homework. Just how often are 4 people going to make enough progress to beat the whole game on co-op with no way to play it online where you could simply text your friends and if they're not busy then can go on the Wii U and play Mario. Also having online as an option doesn't kill all hope of people playing it in one place, it's just a modern convenience.
I wouldn't want online multi-player for this game....A game where someone can kill you...
I'd rather them focus on making Local as amazing as possible than having half-assed online and offline modes.
This is the same issue I have with Sonic 4 Episode 2, lag lag lag, and in a platformer, lag is the last thing you need.
Kart and Smash online... this I'm fine with local multiplayer. Though i know not all have their houses set up for system linked games in multiple rooms in their house like I do
Then do both. All I want is the option, you idiots.
Some people I know are still jaded by Brawl's online and think that Smash 4's online is going to be just as bad.
I thought Pikmin couldn't have multiplayer because of lag/programing issues?
I agree that Local Multiplayer is still the best, but still no online multiplayer is a huge waste of potential IMO.
Or the fact Nintendo still believes that local co-op is still the best form of multiplayer. I don't find it surprising since local multiplayer is hardly talked about.
I don't think a game like this really needs online multiplayer. Games like Mario Kart and SSB4 I feel do though. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to have the option, but it's not really a necessity, at least for me.
I think that's pretty much a given.
We a country that spans more than 3000 miles, they have like 12 miles coast to coast. If you want to get to someone's place in Japan, take a bus.
Here's the real answer: Nintendo is out of touch.
As long as Smash 4 and the 3DS Mario Party have good online play I'm good.
