Miyamoto's new IP is still a long way off

After a misunderstanding over at Wired last year sparked the rumor that Shigeru Miyamoto was retiring, we have learned that he's looking to create new IPs with a small team of newer developers. A couple of days ago, he announced that he was working on an "original title" along with Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon and Pikmin 3...but unfortunately, that title didn't show up at this year's E3 in any way, shape or form. And it might be quite a while longer until we'll finally be able to catch a glimpse of what he's cooking up inside that magnificient brain of his.

In an interview with Joystiq, he said that he's just too busy at the moment to realize his ideas:

"I'm working with a number of small teams on a lot of different ideas, but the problem is because of all these different roles that I have to fulfill, it takes me a long time to write the design document (...) maybe this time next year I'll have something ready to show you that perhaps will illustrate that idea."

At least he's already begun working on some storyboards, which he creates using Flipnote Studio like a true Nintendo patriot.
