New Mirror of Fate 3DS screenshots reveal whip swinging Belmonts

As the release date is coming closer, Konami deliver new screenshots for the upcoming Castlevania Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, which will be released in March. The game is developed by MercurySteam the developer that behind Lord of Shadows series (also the upcoming Lord of Shadows 2). Mirror of Fate going to have a unique feeling to it, it will adopt the classic Castlevania side-scrolling style into Lords of Shadow's saga perspective with 3D environment, in addition to a 3D mode, which should be so interesting.
The game is a direct sequel to the original Lords of Shadows that published in 2010 where you took control of Gabriel Belmont in his journey to save his wife. As the official box art hints, Mirror of Fate will have the presence of the Belmonts (Gabriel, Trevor, and Simon) alongside Alucard, which could say much about the upcoming Lords of Shadow 2. Mirror of Fate will be released on Nintendo 3DS.

So is this going to be more akin to the classic Castlevania games or more Metroidvania? I was hoping for another Metroidvania but it sounds like its going to be more classic.
