New Super Mario Bros. 2 will have co-op! Just don't expect to play together online.
During Nintendo's 3DS live-stream (which made three E3 events in total. Way to be a media monster hogging up all of our press time Nintendo!), some nice new details about New Super Mario Bros. 2 were revealed. I'm sure you've already heard how it's all about the gold this time around and that the new "Coin Rush" Mode will allow players to play through the full game with limited lives, while sharing their high score using the StreetPass, but did you know that the game has co-op?
That's right! Both Mario and Luigi will be able to work through the main campagin together and both make a mad amount of bank! Unfortunately, even with the Nintendo's recent discovery of online play, this Mario adventure won't be having any of it. So, playing with your online friends won't be possible.
Well, that's a drag. But I'm still excited because the game still looks like a blast and local co-op by itself is a pretty neat bonus ... even though online co-op would have been awesome, not too mention entirely possible. Oh well.
If you're pumped for the game but simply can't wait for it to launch on August 19, be sure to check out the E3 trailer here on ScrewAttack!
It's too bad there aren't more games that have off-line only co-op...I miss those days.
But what about the Wii U title? Is it gonna support online? 'Cause I've seen people commenting all the way and they brag the crap out of Miiverse they'd better have it.
Ahem. The moral of this story is spend less time complaining online about Nintendo games and go make some friends... so you play Nintendo games.
I couldn't see co-op working for any Mario games anyways. The lack of communication, lag, and having to stay on screen with everyone at all times is something that will definitely ruin a lot of games.
I would not want to play co-op any other way than sitting in the same room for this type of game. Like someone else said, any bit of lag would ruin the experience.
depending on the game, yes. Like with Mario Kart 7, up to 8 players can play off of one cart, but everyone is shyguy except the person with the cart.
Does the 3DS still have the same feature that the DS had. Like you and a friend can play the same game as long as the DS's are near each other, without them having the same game?
"NSMB2 will have co-op" YAH! "Just don't expect online" F*CK!
Hah, online co-op with platformers like New Super Mario Bros. will never work. Even the tiniest, most unnoticeable bit of lag will destroy the gameplay. Playing co-op with a real person by your side works fine.
Definitely getting New Super Mario Assholes 3DS. [=)]
I only see use in co-op, I expect online features on wiiu games, its just a bonus for 3ds.
I'd rather play local, so I can laugh at my friends when they die. So I'm fine with this.
kind of like the vs modes of new super mario bros? I'd like it as an option, perhaps limiting you to a certain larger range. I want more vs modes dang it. The original was so much fun, I want more of that.
no online? feels like ur taking a step back nintendo
there is a camera on the 3ds
Nah, i'd choose local co-op over online. You can't see your friends face online!
This is ok.
Cause think about it. When we play together on the couch, we totally troll ours friend in the game. Online? Oh man the rage that would happen.
@Shadx: You mean just like every other new Mario game made that had simultaneous play? You seriously want one player to just finish the game without the other player anywhere near them... so why even have it co-op in the first place if you're... I dunno, NOT COOPERATING.
Fine by me, I wanna play it on the go or at holidays anyways.
that's just bullshit fuck
