A new version of Cave Story set to launch on the 3DS eShop

Nicalis has revealed that it will be releasing yet another version of Pixel’s beloved classic Cave Story onto the 3DS eShop next month.
This version of the game will feature new challenge modes, sport a wide-screen presentation, and will have some nice 3D visuals. And no, it’s not a port of Cave Story 3D.
This new version will only set you back about $10, so if you can’t get enough Cave Story, this is a pretty good deal. If haven’t played Cave Story yet and you have a 3DS, I highly recommend you give this a download when it comes out on October 4.
Seriously, if you’re a fan of retro games or platformers in general, you owe it yourself to give Cave Story a chance, as it’s one of the most beautifully made games the genre has ever seen.
It will also be available on the DSiWare Store for the same price but without the 3D functionality for obvious reasons.

Ok, love the game, but this may be the most unnecesarilly ported series of all time. I mean, Jesus, just having a new way of owning the same game won't make me buy it again... oh, wait, I think thats the same way with Mario... I'm such a hypocrite.

I love Cave Story so much but I regret buying Cave Story 3D, as it just seemed like a version of Cave Story where everything was harder to see. I should have just stuck with the 2D version on Wii.

::head desks:: Okay I'm glad such a great game like Cave Story is getting the attention it deserves and all but I think we've gone a little too far overboard w/ all these ports and remakes and whatnot.

I got the 3DS version and loved it but finished it quickly (so I returned it) so I'd gladly get this one.

As far as I know this version will feature PC graphics when DSi version have old "free" graphics.

awww man, I just bought the DSi version from the eshop not to long ago. I'll still end up getting it though lol.
