Nintendo is set to extend the Wii U’s launch window
During a very long and in-depth chat with the IGN’s Richard George, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said Nintendo won’t be taking the typical route when it comes to the launching games on the Wii U.
Usually when a new piece of gaming hardware makes the scene, all of it’s accompanying launch titles can be expected to appear alongside it either at the time of its release or with-in the first month or two of its existence.
Well, that won’t be the case for the Wii U, as Reggie said, that the window has been extended to “launch plus the following three to four months.”
Reggie seems confident with this decision. But is his body really ready for 3-4 months worth of big releases?
I certainly hope so.
I also hope this doesn't mean a delay for the console's big first party-titles.
I want flying squirrel Mario and an army of rock Pikmin ASAP!

If they had 4 quality titles ready the first day AND released 2-3 games each month, this wouldn't be an issue, but the way it sounds is that they're going to have maybe 2 at launch and they'll have one game ready for each month after. Those better be some damn good games. I know I won't be an early adopter. Black Friday 2014!

With this idea, I think (or at least hope) Reggie had the foresight to say "Well, what game will everyone buy FIRST that can tide them over until the next big release a month later? That's easy, NSMB U." If that's not out at launch, they're not going to see the immediate sales they've wanted.

This is a risky gamble, but then again, they're most likely trying to ensure that they don't drain our wallets too quickly and that we buy as many games as possible. Well, as long as New Super Mario Bros. U is still a launch title, I'm game.

Nintendo still needs that go-to launch title *sigh*

I hope this means they will look what the titles at launch are having problems with and let the developers tweak the rest of the "launch" games with the extra time. It might get costly, but if they are willing to do so, it might turn out great.

Three or FOUR months? Four months would guarantee the window would straddle two fiscal quarters. Hmmm. . .

Idiots...Have they learned NOTHING from the 3DS launch?! oh well...

At this point I really don't care about Wii U seeing its library when comparing it to the Upcoming 3DS games.

Is it still considered a launch title if it comes out 4 months after the console? Also "is his body really ready for 3-4 months worth of big releases?" hehheh

So the solution is to just pointlessly delay titles? Why in the fuck would that ever be a good thing?
