Nintendo takes back leaked Pokemon X cart by flying to the culprit’s hometown
When it comes to Pokemon, Nintendo doesn't fuck around. Yesterday images of the new Pokemon X and Y began circling the internet. The source was an Instagram user named kosthedin who had a friend that worked in a game store and gave him a copy early. However, his fun was short lived as all the pictures were removed by the evening and he posted a picture that simply saying "got Nintendo'd".
Upon further clarification it seems Nintendo sent a representative out to the game store and threatened the store with crippling repercussions. I'm talking like a perpetual walk through a cave overrun by Zubats with no repel. In an attempt to spare his friend a fate worse than death, kosthedin gave the game back to Nintendo. I'm sure we'll hear more details soon, but I can't imagine the employee will be keeping his job.
Especially considering that this is Nintendo's first simultaneous world wide Pokemon launch. On the plus side, he'll have plenty of extra time to play Pokemon.
Guys....any grade school kid should be able to pick apart this guy's story very easily :/ Think about it. First of all how did they find the store supposedly? Second why send a rep when they could email or call the store? And you really believe that not only was that done in under a day, the very same day the leaks were happening? Really? And you think him giving back the game would do anything? The damage was done when the store employee willingly broke street date and sold him the game. Returning it wouldnt affect anything. But that's even assuming that Nintendo even knows this guy or that store exist. The more likely and less exciting story is simply that the guy put up leaks, the site asked him to take them down. He does so and starts leaking on another site. Making up another story for more attention. :/ The fact that people are taking what he says at face value is really jaw dropping to me. No one even questioning his story in the slightest -_-
nah, they tried really hard to keep the game's 'secrets' hidden and worked really hard to get the world wide release going. If it were me, i would've sued the dude that sold it and fucked his life. Just because it would make me feel better haha.
Yeah, the kid deserves to be punched in the face because of that. And I also hate his ugly ass smile too so there's another reason he needs to be punched lol
If you are lucky enough to get your hands on a much anticipated game before it's release date ... Don't be a moron and start posting pictures of it.
Good things come to those who wait, and those who don't get Nintendo'd.
Very true. They like to screw up a lot. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. I usually get the bad, which means the good will show up soon.
i don't see why people are freaking out calling Nintendo assholes, this is their first global launch, it is reasonable that they don't want it spoiled.
And you can confirm it's the same person and not someone imitating him how?
Before you guys go writing blogs about Nintendo being douchebags and muh store rights, this whole story is bs'd you know why, the guy is still posting leaks on reddit, good god some of you g1s just
You haven't seen my Twitter feed, have you? :P : https://twitter.com/cazthegamerguy/status/385896460094435328
If it was EA, people would be going nuts right now. But noooo... it's Saint Nintendo...
On the contrary, I do: http://kotaku.com/pokemon-leaker-says-heads-are-rolling-at-nintendo-1440...
In his own post on Instagram he admitted that he gave his copy back to Nintendo to keep his friend from losing his job. Right there, that's how he got it. His friend sold it to him
Also it can not be legally sold before the release date, therefore he could not legally have it, even if he paid for it. Plain and simple, black and white.
Now your not going to convince me otherwise, and its obvious I'm not to you, so let both be adults and just end this.
I was asking a legitimate question, but if you'd like me to actually insult you rather than ask one, I can arrange that. However, the situation was the same thing, be it Gamestop announcing it or some friend selling him (which by the way, you have no source to present that his friend got him the copy as opposed to another employer who sold it to him and the other people who got a copy from the store without any knowledge of the street date) and others the copies early for sale at that store and the many others that sold it in various other countries. If we're going by your own logic, it was stupid of them to let it out so early and a mistake that retailers were shipped the final product so early. They were titles up for retail meant to be sold at a later time but ended up being purchased before the street date. There is a fine line between different and similar and same. This situation is no different than the one a few months back nor the one with Rockstar that happened not a month before this day. In fact, it is, by your own words, a mistake due to stupidity that either was sold as early as it was.
Pokemon is serious business.
And the insults begin, never fails.
That situation was different, Fire Emblem was a mistake due to stupidity. This was one person, with inside access, a friend, who he convince to sell it to him. His friend knew very well what he was doing and he knew when the release date was. There is a fine line between intentional and a mistake.
Would you like some education on the concept of ownership and what an "inside deal" is? Or should I remind you of what happened to Fire Emblem Awakening this year and assume you would call people who got the game early criminals for *gasp* purchasing a product?
again wrong. Getting a object early through an inside deal like this is immoral and in some places criminal.
So this combined with that store in Canada I sure Nintendo's been busy tracking these early copies.
They gave me my pre-order of Fire Emblem: Awakening a week earlier, this isn't something new.
I don't know, they've done really shady things to me, like selling a couple of my pre-orders
