Nintendo TVii to launch Dec. 20 in North America

12/20/12 3:02pm

To those of us who live in North America and have a Wii U, you're in for a special surprise today.

According to GamesRadar, Nintendo TVii. the television service that was delayed from the Wii U launch, will be available on December 20, which is today!

For those who aren't familiar with Nintendo TVii, it was one of the main selling points for the Wii U. It acts as a one-stop-shop for your cable or satellite subscription as well as video streaming services like Netflix, Hulu Plus, or Amazon Instant Video onto an accessible GamePad. However, Netflix and TiVo services won't be available until early 2013.

What will be available tomorrow, or now if you're reading this past the 19th of December, is everything else that comes with TVii that isn't Netflix or Tivo. What will you do first with Nintendo TVii's services?

The name appears very unique, one of the reasons that I am interested in the game. - Brenda Lee Reed

I'm somewhat interested despite the dumb name.

I really am loving this feature. Seriously. I don't have a top-box for my cable so I never know what is on unless its a series I watch religiously. Now I have my own TV guide. What I really love however is the fact that it tells me what movies are playing on what channels. I can now just go click, click, BAM watching movie!

WHY IS IT STILL NOT UPDATED?! Apparently Nintendo updates the eShop at 9 PM EST, so I'm still biding my time to try this out. I really want to see how well it works.

Finally! I've been scouring the internet for an official release date for a month now. All I could find was Japanese and European release dates.

It was sure nice of Nintendo to tell us ahead of time wasn't it?

Actually, I saw the TVii news on Nintendo's Facebook a couple of days ago. I guess the internet is slow to react.

I'm very interested in this. Was personally wondering when it would actually release since it said "this December" on my Wii U since launch, and December wasn't gonna last that much longer! Thanks for the heads-up, Cyrax!
