No PSP-to-PS Vita transfer service for North America
On a great PR move from Sony they are pulling the plug on any idea of a PSP-to-PS Vita transfer service in North America. With the UMD Passport program you would be allowed to re-download your old PSP UMD games to your PS Vita at a discounted price.
This was one of the main selling points for me since I didn’t want to have to buy all of my PSP games all over again at high prices. Now there are two solutions, keep my PSP and play the games I already own, or re-download all of the games at Sony’s prices. Like traditional Sony mentality, Japan will get this awesome transfer service and other regions will not.
What the hell Sony? You really know how to kill hype for your devices.
2 months later...
1. Sony never promised this in any other region, please show me where they promised this feature anywhere outside of Japan.
2. That's not my problem now, is it?
That's not the point. The point and why people are pissed is this is Sony agian promising one feature and then removing it. And your argument doesn't hold any weight for people like me who have PSP games but no PSP because it broke.
Meanwhile my 3DS simply plays all my DS games. God damn I love Sony, if only to watch them shoot themselves in the foot every couple days, without fail.
Fulchrum, if you're going to attempt to provide a formal argument, verbally attacking the person you're debating with isn't a mature way to do it. You have your own opinion, and they have theirs. Just because theirs doesn't match up with yours doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong.
Or people who plan to sell their PSP to reduce the price of the Vita.
The only conceivable reason why I think you haven't been banned from this site yet is you're paying ScrewAttack $3.95 a month. Seriously, nobody has a opinion but you? Fuck off. You utterly disgust me. In the short time that I've seen you on ScrewAttack, I can gather a couple of things from you:
1. Anyone who disagrees with what Sony says is wrong
2. I will defend Sony at all cost, causing flame wars in the process.
3. No one is safe from my wrath, including the ScrewAttack crew
TL;DR: Shut the fuck up, everyone is allowed their opinions.
This further shows that I can wait even longer in getting a PSVita or if at all.
I suspect its cause of the huge piracy of psp games in the US and Europe
Why are you so genuenly annoyed by people having negative reactions to this news? You've been posting lots of responses to most of the comments here, and you're coming off as being a little rude in some of your responses.
What if someone doesn't want to have to play their games across multiple handhelds? The Nintendo 3DS has backwards compatibility with most Nintendo DS titles, why shouldn't this?
For the record, I don't currently own a Nintendo 3DS, that was just for an example. I just think that people should have the right to express any negative reactions they have to this news, especially since Japan already allows its customers to.
And someone asked me why not get a Vita over a PS3.
Congrats sony. You're not getting any money from me. I already own some UMD games but no PSP to play it on. Guess I'm getting a preowned PSP-3000 instead.
This seems to be what most of the people with PsP's are saying. The only people who seem to care are people who don't have a PsP.
Oh no, you mean I won't get to play my PSP games, that I have to pay a fee in order to do and the program doesn't even support every game to be transferred to the Vita?! WHAT EVER WILL I DO?!!!!11
Oh wait, do what I already do now. Play them on my PSP. Whew, what a relief, I was panicking there for a minute.
This actually did get a real laugh out of me.
That sucks for those that got the PSP before this one. Sony should treat long time fans a little better than this.
Oh no, now I'm going to have to play my psp games on my psp, how weird is that?!
Well that's seriously disappointing. I went from trying to preorder (and having Best Buy fuck it up somehow) to not even wanting the thing at all. We're a week away from release and they haven't really said anything officially concerning discounted downloads and now this whole mess. And it was just...what? Last week? That they decide to throw in 8 gig memory sticks, essentially screwing over everyone who preordered the first edition. As a huge supporter and fan of Sony, I can honestly say it seems like they have no clue what they're doing. They seriously need to get their act together.
Welp even less reason to get a Vita and more reason to keep my PSP.
You mean shoddy moves that are hailed as brilliant moves by other sites? Like, say offering a total, permanent discount on all games?
