Obscure/Forgotten Mario Games pt.3
The final 12 obscure or forgotten Mario games.
Welcome to the third part of my obscure/forgotten Mario games blog. Part 2 can be found here and part 1 can be found here.
I am a Teacher: Super Mario Sweater- 1986 Famicom Disk System

The idea of this game was created by Royal Industries who was an appliance and sewing machine company. Realizing that they could make tons of money making sweaters with video game characters on them Royal designed a sweater design program that teaches people how to make their own sweaters. People could have characters like Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser. Royal made 2900 Yen for each one sold (around $24). This was one of Mario’s first spin off games.
Is this game worth playing? No! This is one of the rarest Famicom Disk System games out there.
Famicom Grand Prix: F-1 Race- 1987 Famicom Disk System
When this game came out, Nintendo held a Famicom Grand Prix: F-12 contest where players who got higest scores got a Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch in a case shaped like the Famicom Disk Systems mascot, Diskun. You can play the game alone or with other cars. Your car has a health bar and fuel bar that depletes overtime or if the player crashes into another car or wall. Also if the player drives off the road. To regenerate health you drive to the pit-stop, but it will take away race time. When you win the Grand Prix you’re rewarded with coins that are used to unlock new cars. This game resembles R.C Pro-AM and had a sequel called Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Ralley.
Is this game worth playing? Yes!
Yoshi no Cookie: Kuruppon Oven de Cookie- 1994 Super Famicom

How to make Heart-Shaped cookies
This game was made to promote a new oven, Kuruppon Oven. This game is very rare since only 500 were made. The game had the original Yoshi’s Cookie and a mode that lets Yoshi travel around a small island going to certain locations and finding recipes that Yoshi teaches you. These recipes are for the cookies you see in Yoshi’s Cookie like the Heart Cookie.
Is this game worth playing? No! I’d be easier and cheaper to get the SNES version of Yoshi’s Cookie and look up the recipes.
Picross 2- 1996 Game Boy
![]()

This game was basically the same as Mario Picross, solving number puzzles on a grid to create the image. You can play as either Mario or Wario, each have different puzzles to solve.
Is this game worth playing? Maybe
Mario no Photopi- 1998 N64

This games cartridge has two slots for SmartMedia cards that allow you to import digital photos or transfer images between cards. Pictures can be edited and decorated with fonts and artwork from the Mario series, boarders, etc. The game had special SmartMedia cards that had Sylvanian Families, Bomberman, or Yoshi designed on them.
Is this game worth playing? No!
Super Mario Fushigi no Japan Land- 2003 Arcade
![]()
A rare arcade game developed by Capcom, it’s a single player medal game that has a bunch of themes from Super Mario Bros. 3.
Is this game worth playing? No!
Super Mario Fushigi no Korokoro Party- 2004 Arcade

This is an arcade remake of Mario Party 5 released only in Japan. This game can have up to six players and all ten playable characters appear in this game.
Is this game worth playing? Maybe. The biggest problem is that the game only came out in Japan.
Mario Pinball Land- 2004 GBA
![]()
Mario is the pinball in this game. Explore 4 locations in The Fun Fair and rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. While the game looks great graphically, the gameplay is more luck based rather than skill based.
Is this game worth playing? No!
Mario Party Advance- 2005 GBA
![]()
Unlike other Mario Party games, Advance is more of a single player game. The game has no four player mode, but you can play Duel mini-games against other players and download mini-games and Gaddgets to another GBA for friends to play. Gaddgets are miniature toys with mini-games in them that can be won by completing quests, winning Bowser mini-games, and simply purchasing them; there are 80 total. Mario Party Advance included an extra physical board game that uses the Game Boy Advance game to let players play against each other in Gaddgets.
The game has eight different game modes: Shroom City, Play Land, Party Land, Challenge Land, Mini-Game Attack, Game Room, Duel Dash, and Bowser Land. Advance has 26 non-Gaddget mini-games, 18 single player games, 5 Duel mini-games, and 3 Bowser mini-games, but the mini-games aren’t very good and lack originality.
Is this game worth playing? No! If you want a portable Mario Party get Mario Party DS.
Super Princess Peach- 2005 DS

The roles are reversed in this game; Mario, Luigi, and Toad have been kidnapped by Bowser’s minions using the Vibe Scepter while Peach and Toadsworth were on a walk. With the power of the Vibe Scepter Bowser takes over Vibe Island and now Princess Peach must save everyone using the power of emotion and her parasol, Perry. Peach’s emotion/Vibes are Joy, Rage, Gloom, and Calm. Each emotion gives Peach different abilities like floating and invincibility. Super Princess Peach also has a bit of an RPG element to it. You level up Perry letting him perform different transformation to get Peach across certain terrain. The game also has a few mini-games to unlock. To date this is the only Mario game where you only play as Peach.
Is this game worth playing? Yes!
Super Mario Fushigi no Korokoro Party 2- 2005 Arcade
![]()
A sequel to the first arcade game, you can now have up to sixteen players.
Is this game worth playing? Maybe.
Mario Party Fushigi no Korokoro Catcher- 2009 Arcade

The third Japan exclusive Mario Party arcade game is based off of Mario Party 8. Unlike the previous two games, this games main gimmick is a crane. The crane is used to have players try to capture a ball from a conveyor belt in the crane event. Compared to the first two arcade Mario Parties, this one certainly sounds the most unique. While the game can have up to sixteen people playing at the same time, they’re all playing separate games.
Is this game worth playing? Maybe
So that concludes my obscure/forgotten Mario games blog. I hope you enjoyed reading them and as usual, feel free to leave a comment or subscribe. Maybe down the road I'll do another blog for a different series of games.

whattabout mario's fundamentals?! hotel mario?! marios early years?! theres more than that

I left out all the educational games since I would imagine most people could care less about them and as for Hotel Mario, I think after all the Youtube Poops done with the game it isn't very obscure anymore.

All of those arcade games sound really weird but I must admit that I probably would try them out if I ever saw them (which is probably never, due to rarity). A game that tells you how to sow, another with cooking recipes, and a mario token machine? Geez he has everything.
Also, who thought that a single player only Mario Party game would be a good idea?
Sckarton
you forgot to mention super mario world on sega genesis which plays like chip and dale on nes.
MegaSilverX1
I didn't mention any pirate/bootleg games on my list , but if you check out g1 THEBERALE02 he made a blog about bootleg Mario games.

Anyone hoping to see a Super King Bowser for 3DS/WiiU as a 2D platformer RTS type game?
Sidescroller Def
Super Mario Fushigi no Japan Land looks like one of those general arcade games where you put in a token to have the machine push other tokens off so you win tickets. If that's the case, the game is just as much worth playing as any other machine of that kind. They actually have pretty good ticket payouts, at least outside the U.S.

I really liked Mario Party Advance. =<
