The One-of-a-kind $300,000 Mario Statue

8/28/12 11:21pm

We've all heard about the legendary 1990 Nintendo World Championships and how the authentic cartidges used in the competition go for thousands on ebay but this is something we've never seen before.  Turns out the uber-gamer who won the 12-17 year old age group, Thor Aackerlund, is now putting the golden Mario trophy and the controller he won on ebay for a cool $300,000.  HOLY CRAP.  Personally, I hope he sells it.  Check out the pics of what some lucky millionaire could potentially have.

Is it just me or does that golden Mario look kinda like a third grader got a hold of some clay?  I've contacted our buddy PSP, who first emailed me about this and also happens to be close friends with wonderboy Aackerlund, because I would LOVE to chat with him.  I'll follow up with more as it develops.

If you're interested in spending 300k and having a piece of video game history you can check out the ebay listing here.
