The original Half-Life finally comes to life on Mac

After nearly 15 years since its initial release on PCs, the original Half-Life is finally available for Apple branded computers as well.
Valve revealed earlier this weekend that Mac OS X and Linux ports are downloadable through Steam for $9.99.
I wonder what took Gabe and company so long to release the Mac port? I mean Half-Life 2 has been available on the platform since 2010. You’d figure both games would have been ported at the same time. Oh well. It’s good to know that Mac gamers can now enjoy Gordon’s first adventure… even if it did arrive a tad more than a bit late in the game so to speak.

The Mac-release only pretty much happened because GoldSrc was ported to over to Linux internally, after which Source got ported. Linux and Mac versions pretty much share 90% of the codebase.
Macs will probably get more game support because you almost have a working port once you've got it running on Linux.
