Outerworld service announced for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

Square Enix announced a new feature for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII earlier today via press release. The "Outerworld service" will allow players to share their playthrough with other gamers in a whole-new way, as they'll not only be able to take in-game snapshots at any given time but they will also be able to post those snapshots, along with special messages and their battle scores onto various social media sites.

This is pretty nice to have. I don't know if I'd actually use it but it's good for those who want to share that info with their fellow players and it'll certainly prove useful for those who plan on composing written reviews of the game.

Square also used this press release to unveil a set of new screenshots, which confirm the return of Final Fantasy XIII series regular Oerba Dia Vanille. In Lightning Returns, Oerba awakes from her state of suspended animation to discover she now has the ability to hear the voices of the dead. After being dubbed a "saint" by The Order, she currently spends her days under their protection in Luxerion.

Will Oerba's newly discovered gift aid in Lightning's quest to save the world from the impending apocalypse? Find out when Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII launches for Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 11.
