Paramount Pictures files a trademark for World War Z game adaptation
The upcoming film adaptation of Max Brook’s insanely popular novel World War Z (a sequel of sorts to his ground breaking Zombie Survival Guide), which tells individual accounts of a global conflict caused by a zombie outbreak, could be getting an adaptation of it’s own.
It appears that Paramount Pictures has filed a trademark for what could be a downloadable game based on the movie.
You might think it’s odd that Paramount is filing the trademark rather than an established video game publisher but the does have some experience in the gaming industry. For instance, it has backed its publishing muscle behind the downloadable War of the Worlds game and will be co-publishing next year’s Star Trek game alongside Namco Bandai.
If a World War Z game is in the works, we can likely expect to see it released sometime in June 2013, which would coincide with the film’s theatrical release.
What do you think g1s? Do you think World War Z would make a solid game? Or do you think it’s better left alone as a book/movie? Or are have you had your fill of zombies?

I thought the book was pretty boring...it had some good parts but overall I wasn't too impressed. The movie might be good though, especially when they get to the celebrity Big Brother part.

This is just going to end up being some lame FPS isn't it?... If it truly wanted to capture the tone of the book, the film should have been a faux documentary and the game should play like Michigan: Report From Hell

if the movie is as good as the book and audio book, This would be a great movie. now a game? I dont know since the book as a documentry

As a fan of the book and from what i found out about the films plot. A game probably isn't going to work. If it were based off the book there are quite a few scenerios that could work like the battle at yonkers the march to the coast( i aint gonna list to many so not to drop spoilers for those who aint read the the book). But the film seems to be based off the book but not loyal to it and the plot just doesn't fit into the game. I might check out a demo of it if a game does get released for it, but i aint getting my hopes up.

Remember when they were used to scare you? Me either, it's been so long. If they aren't used with atmosphere and survival they become the most boring enemy ever conceived.

Ok, but no more zombie things after this...... unless they make Pride and Prejudice and Zombies a thing

World War Z was a great horror book. But if it becomes some generic, action shooter, then it probably won't be going on my wish list.

From what I can gather, the plot of the film has been altered significantly from the book, in that it's not a series of stories told in flashback. Considering that most of the stories are simply individual accounts of survival esperiences, or simply the bueacracy of rebuilding the world, I can't see much potential for a game. That said, the film's plot sounds more action-oriented, but I still have my doubts.

A lot of people say they're sick of zombies, but I don't think they'll ever get old. There's so much that can be done; shambling corpses with armies in the thousands; fast, running hoards; mutated monsters; intelligent weapon using zombies. It kind of covers every base. A whole lot more variety in zombies than, say, realistic soldiers.
Besides, as long as the game is good, who cares what the enemies are? :P

Someone please tell me I'm not the only one getting sick of so many zombie games.
