[PAX] Still no plans to bring Minecraft to Nintendo platforms, marketing manager reveals
When speaking to Gamespot at this year’s PAX event in Seattle, Nintendo’s marketing manager Damon Baker revealed the popular Minecraft series still has no plans to come over to the Big N’s platforms despite the company being “big fans” of the franchise.
A while back ago Mojang’s Jen Bergensten revealed the company would “consider Minecraft for PlayStation, but Wii U is very unlikely.” Well, it looks as though the company is sticking by their word, as a PlayStation 4 version was announced, while Baker recently revealed:
Personally, I think Minecraft would find a fantastic home on Nintendo’s recent platforms, as the touch screens via GamePad and 3DS, would definitely help make accessing inventory as well as crafting a whole lot more convenient.
But what are your thoughts, g1s? Do you still have hope to one day play Minecraft on a Nintendo platform? Or are you fine playing the game on your platform of choice already? Let me know in the comments below!
Some people prefer consoles to PCs, regardless of the game itself.
Oh, I see it in the article now. I should really read the articles more instead of just glancing at them.
I can see Minecraft working well on the Wii U or 3DS but, honestly, I don't think I'd buy it; I'm happy with just the PC version.
Its not like its hard with the shit Nintendo has been doing to themselves
You missed a lot didn't you. They anounced it on PS3, PS4, and Vita
Not really surprising, since the PS3/4 doesn't have support on Minecraft, either (unless they announced it recently, in which case I'm wrong). It could make Nintendo make all the moneys though, but I think everyone would be playing that if they own a Wii U instead of Smash Bros or other Nintendo titles.
A lot of children are surprisingly aren't allowed to play games on pcs, some because parents don't think it's safe and others because the parents either can't figure it out or aren't aware of it. Console versions for children of the less tech savvy and unaware. I guess.
The screenshots would primarily be to the Minecraft community so I dun see the issue.
Xperia PLAY does what other smartphones don't!
While I think accessing your items in Minecraft would work a lot easier on the Wii U gamepad, I would hate to see the Miiverse flooded with Minecraft screenshoots. But I think it would work better on Wii U than it would on smartphones.
Minecraft is horrible on smartphones. Your thumbs cover a lot of the screen and the controls are annoying. I don't see why it's a must to have Minecraft on any console because you can play it on almost any PC with specs high enough to browse the internet.
I personal don't care, but I can see why some would
I bet Sams going to use this to blast Nintendo, again on Hard News
Nintendo needs anything that sells systems. We cannot keep relying on first Party games to sell the system because eventually we'll get droughts.
Minecraft sells and the Wii pad would be perfect because there would be no more awkward controls to access items like how it is on the 360 currently. Just tap the item and go.
Minecraft would lend itself well to a Nintendo console, so I do not see why they have no plans to do so.
Nintendo doesn't need Minecraft. They already have enough exclusives to wow the crowd with. Personally for me, it would be weird playing Minecraft on the Wii U, even though it seems so right with the gamepad.
I feel like Minecraft on the Wii U would turn into too much touchscreen action.
Considering that Notch recently cancelled a game he was working on because it was too popular (I'm not kidding: http://www.vg247.com/2013/08/20/notch-on-0x10c-cancellation-failure-is-o...). Maybe he just doesn't want it to be on the WiiU.
The only question that remains is the "why".
