PS Vita is still not doing well
Sales data a few days ago has started to show how many PS Vitas have been sold in Japan. The number? Just about 790,000 units. Sony has since said that the figure is in line of which they were expecting, but some reports were saying that Sony shipped 700,000 Vitas for the launch alone.
In addition to those numbers, it has been revealed which games for the PS Vita sold the most and how many each game sold in Japan. The top 10 list is as follows:
- Persona 4: The Golden (188,782)
- Hot Shots Golf 6 (118,985)
- Uncharted Golden Abyss (89,390)
- Gravity Daze (74,785)
- Dynasty Warriors Next (74,718)
- Tales of Innocence R (71,463)
- Lord of Apocalypse (69,162)
- Ragnarok Odyssey (65,318)
- Gundam Seed Battle Destiny (55,527)
- Disgaea 3 Return (54,902)
What slightly scares me is that if you add up all of these games sales, they don't break 1M.
So g1s, with how the Vita is doing in Japan, how well doing you think it is going in the rest of the world? Do you think they need to stay the course, do a Nintendo and lower the price of their system, or other things to try and get the Vita to do better?
What did you expect from a handheld called a "Vita"? I'm more of a multi-tasker, so I want my handheld to make phone calls and surf the net while I'm sitting in the stadium watching a WV football game (got my tickets at http://www.internetticketoutlet.com/West-Virginia-Mountaineers, also ordered on said device!)
Yeah I know, I guess I should have said "Native backwards compatibility" :P OR a way to register (or something) the games you own & download them for free since, ya know, I already paid for em. Heck I would have even been fine with a reduced price offering for games already bought >.<
yup, learned that one the hard way a number of times now. Now I wait till I see a glut of games before I pull the trigger.
exact same for me, it may be hell to get some of the deals but in the end so worth it.
like Judy implied I'm blown away that a single mom able to make $5530 in 1 month on the internet. have you read this site http://widg.me/NbuKe
it is common knowledge but a lot of people like to know how low.
Have you considered that maybe you're doing a piss poor job at getting what you're saying across me. You're saying that "The Vita launch and the PS3 launch are complete parallels" and you try to explain that by saying "And look how slowly it rolled out the gate", I don't think I deserve to be called a dumbass here.
You dumbass. The Vita launch and the PS3 launch are complete parallels. That's what I was getting at. The PS3 is doing well now, and the Vita will likely do well in the future. I plan to get the Assassin's Creed Vita bundle and Persona 4: The Golden, personally.
Ummm yeah, I'd like to welcome to 2012, will you be staying or returning to 2007 when the PS3 sucked. Alot has changed since then and baseing your argument on something that was aparent 5-6 years ago is stupid.
It has it, but you have to buy the games off PSN
The reason why I think the Vita isn't doing so well is because it essentially costs more than the Playstation 3 these days, it can be over $300 depending on the size of memory card you want to buy. I'll admit there are games that I want to buy for it, but after buying a $3,000 computer I'm not willing to fork over another $300 for another system yet. Maybe when the price drops, but it's typical that Sony releases their consoles out of everyone's price range.
Backwards compatibility would have helped sales..
Exactly, the system cost a good deal and guess what. I'd say a good portion of the market that gets a Vita get it as a gift. 3DS can talk about all the games it will have. I'm still pissed at how slow they are coming out. I'm super excited about the up coming games but when are they coming out? I swear last year they were talking about Luigis Mansion and were the hell is it? You also have to take in account the type of games each system releases. Nintendo release kiddie (though very fun to play) games and Sony releases more adult games. I wouldn't be surprised to see kids and teens request a Vita over 3DS just for that factor.
I don't see how this is news I thought it was common knowledge that the vita's sales were low I hope Sony get the sales going but the price is to high
And the HUGE price tag had NOTHING to do with it's low sales in the beginning. Sony HAS done an excellent job of gaming and entertaining. Anymore it seems like Sony is the one focused on gaming and Microsoft isn't. Just look at Sony's marketing saying, "Long live play."
Lack of games on the vita? theirs a lot better selection than when the 3ds was released. I own a vita and a 3ds and in my opinion its better than the 3ds. Its a great system with some great games its just a bit on the expensive side i mean you can buy a ps3 for less than the vita. The vita just needs a price drop but i dont regret buying one.
I've said it before, I wouldn't worry about the Vita till after the holiday season is over and it tanked during that time frame. Everyone knows that's when you can tell if a system is going to be alright or have to worry about it. I'm personally waiting till Black Friday to buy one since I really don't need to spend that much money on my self. Black Friday is kinda like my personal Christmas day that I buy what ever I want that is a guilty pleasure and I don't need.
The Vita just might not be a good game system for Japan but I'm pretty sure its selling well in the U.S.
I don't think the vita is doing too good in any part of the world, nobody I know at all has one and I don't want one since there just isn't a single game out there in my opinion that warrants me buying it.
Lowering the price might sell more units, however at this point worldwide the 3DS has beat the Vita almost 8:1 in terms of units sold, I don't know what they can do at this point to sell more units.
