PS Vita is still not doing well
Sales data a few days ago has started to show how many PS Vitas have been sold in Japan. The number? Just about 790,000 units. Sony has since said that the figure is in line of which they were expecting, but some reports were saying that Sony shipped 700,000 Vitas for the launch alone.
In addition to those numbers, it has been revealed which games for the PS Vita sold the most and how many each game sold in Japan. The top 10 list is as follows:
- Persona 4: The Golden (188,782)
- Hot Shots Golf 6 (118,985)
- Uncharted Golden Abyss (89,390)
- Gravity Daze (74,785)
- Dynasty Warriors Next (74,718)
- Tales of Innocence R (71,463)
- Lord of Apocalypse (69,162)
- Ragnarok Odyssey (65,318)
- Gundam Seed Battle Destiny (55,527)
- Disgaea 3 Return (54,902)
What slightly scares me is that if you add up all of these games sales, they don't break 1M.
So g1s, with how the Vita is doing in Japan, how well doing you think it is going in the rest of the world? Do you think they need to stay the course, do a Nintendo and lower the price of their system, or other things to try and get the Vita to do better?

What did you expect from a handheld called a "Vita"? I'm more of a multi-tasker, so I want my handheld to make phone calls and surf the net while I'm sitting in the stadium watching a WV football game (got my tickets at http://www.internetticketoutlet.com/West-Virginia-Mountaineers, also ordered on said device!)

The reason why I think the Vita isn't doing so well is because it essentially costs more than the Playstation 3 these days, it can be over $300 depending on the size of memory card you want to buy. I'll admit there are games that I want to buy for it, but after buying a $3,000 computer I'm not willing to fork over another $300 for another system yet. Maybe when the price drops, but it's typical that Sony releases their consoles out of everyone's price range.

Backwards compatibility would have helped sales..
That Guy Named Joey
It has it, but you have to buy the games off PSN

Yeah I know, I guess I should have said "Native backwards compatibility" :P OR a way to register (or something) the games you own & download them for free since, ya know, I already paid for em. Heck I would have even been fine with a reduced price offering for games already bought >.<

I don't see how this is news I thought it was common knowledge that the vita's sales were low I hope Sony get the sales going but the price is to high
Chance XD
it is common knowledge but a lot of people like to know how low.

Lack of games on the vita? theirs a lot better selection than when the 3ds was released. I own a vita and a 3ds and in my opinion its better than the 3ds. Its a great system with some great games its just a bit on the expensive side i mean you can buy a ps3 for less than the vita. The vita just needs a price drop but i dont regret buying one.
