Question of my mind: What Does everyone see in Multiplayer?

6/1/12 2:35am
tl;dr

My own personal past had me dedicate my time playing games that had a meaning, a story, something to teach or something to really learn about or just play experience a type of thrill that was more then mind numbing. Unlike today's games, the past couple generations in the realm of 3D could produce a solid game without any multi-player as it was not need but rather question of "If it will work" in there game. Sadly now its almost required and i want everyone's opinion on my thoughts and i want to hear everyone else thoughts.

The day in which a good game's details were debated and added in seem out these days as games hit more and more main stream. Iit dosen't become a question of whether "Do we need this feature or do we not need this feature?". but now it seems developers aren't thinking about this at all  and just going "This game NEEDS this feature or it won't sell" beacuse it seems by some untold voice and populairty that it needs to be in there. Such a case is Multiapalyer, which ill say right now dosen't belong in most games today at all and yet there are some that it does and it's completely missing.

I'll be firm on my opinion on this topic beacuse of the fact that i HATE with a rageing passion the idea of multiplayer in every game. So i beg the question, "Why?". is it just to drive sells cause im quite sure thats a big issue here.  But really, online multiplayer is an over saturated part of the market and while games like Dragon's Dogma would benafit from it.. id never use it unless it had split screen... which hardly exsists anymore. As if anything, online multiaplyer has hurt the gameing  industery more then its benafited it (though i do love tormenting the hell out of kids online beacuse they deserve no pitity for there stupity).

But this purely my idea on the subject, so tell me everyone. whats your opinion on the subject? what about my views? Do you not understand the way i present myself? Im curious to know, so set up some comments and send some feed back.

I love both your points and i thank you for your comments. It would be nice to see wouldn't it? Though I think a good example to me of a game that did not need Multiplayer was Mass effect 3.. cause really.. its boring as all hell.

On your presentation, you could improve your grammar and punctuation, but I won't hold that against you, and you could have listed some examples of tacked-on multiplayers you didn't like.

As for myself, I'd just like devs to not make a multiplayer if they can use that time to enhance single player (Mass Effect 3, Dead Space 2, etc...)

Unless it is a good MP with something new to bring to the table, like Brutal Legend or Assassin's Creed, they shouldn't even bother making one (Looking at you Bioshock 2)

Can't say they are evil though, only when it is misused by the devs like Nemesis Trestkon said.

(Also, sorry for the long comment, but Screwattack would stuff up when I poted my previous two, both longer but hitting the same ideas)

Devs think that MP increases replay value of games however that depends on how many are that fond of the game to actually want to try MP. If I want to play multiplayer, I want to do it meaningfully rather than just simply play a tacled pm Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch or CTF with a different skin.

I can't really say online multiplayer alone is what's hurting the gaming industry, but rather the developers' stubborness regarding MP as it can reduce the quality of a single-player mode to just an insanely long tutorial. Just saying
