Rayman Legends 3DS release still being considered
Ubisoft's platformer Rayman Legends is still being considered for a 3DS release, according to a ComputerandVideoGames.com interview.
Ubisoft executive Alain Corre told CVG that a 3DS port of the game has not been ruled out.
The 3DS is Nintendo's breakthrough handheld, and the unit's sales figures are hard to ignore. Joystiq recently reported 3DS sales have surpassed Wii sales in Japan. Other major releases like the newest installation of Super Smash Bros. will release for the handheld in 2014.
Corre said Ubisoft sees potential in 3DS development, but a clear idea must be present for the company to pursue anything.
Rayman Legends was originally intended to be a Wii U exclusive title, but the game was changed to multiplatform due to fan request, Ubisoft chief marketing and sales officer Geoffroy Sardin said.
Corre said he believes the Wii U version defines the quality of Nintendo's Wii U.
Some people in the industry have been harsh to Wii U, but Corre said he believes in the power and potential of the Wii U.
Rayman Legends is currently available for PC, Playstation 3, Playstation Vita, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
Would you buy a 3DS version of Rayman Legends?
I don't fully understand your comment, but it's already out on the Vita. :P
Huffington post saying it might be the best platformer ever made? Oh come on. Honestly, I have no doubt its an absolutely amazing game but, realistically, is there a more competitive title in all of gamedom than "best platformer"? I mean look at it like this: the question "what is the best 2D mario game" can generate university level essay papers and some even write novels about why one game is so awesome (*cough*moviebob*cough*). So when you include all the 3D mario games, let alone all the other various platform games out there by Nintendo or others (Megaman, sonic, the other rayman games, etc) its hard to believe it could possible be that good. It can't just be "amazingly fun", it has to be breathtakingly revolutionary (mario 64), perfect the art to its highest form (mario world and mario land 3) or just give a super fresh spin to an existing concept and make it interesting again (galaxy 1 and 2). Legends is amazing, but its not that at all.
I think the 3DS's screen is too low res for a game like this. Origins looked awful on 3DS.
I'd definitely buy it. I was considering getting a Wii U this year, but with the release of the PS4, i'd figure id get that first, and it will set me back $400. i'll probably buy a Wii U maybe next year. Hopefully Rayman Legends for the 3DS will be better than Rayman Origins.
I'd buy it, buying a sidescroller for a console seems a little unworthy for me, but I would play it in a hand held on my commute, which is great.
then a mounth before its released, it will be pushed back 7 mouths so I can go to Vita as well.
