Rayman Legends delayed until 2013

tl;dr

Rayman Legends has been taken of the list of launch titles for the Nintendo WiiU.

The launch of Rayman Legends for Wii U has been delayed by Ubisoft to first quarter 2013. The Ubisoft title slated to be part of the Wii U’s launch lineup has been delayed to early next year, according to Joystiq.

Rayman Legends will launch worldwide in the first quarter of 2013,” Ubisoft said. “We're happy that fans are excited about the game, and we are taking the time to make sure we deliver a game that lives up to and hopefully exceeds their expectations. We'll have more details to share soon.”

Despite the delay of Rayman Legends, Ubisoft still has an impressive lineup of launch titles for Nintendo’s new console. This lineup includes Assassin’s Creed 3, ESPN Sports Connection, Just Dance 4, Rabbids Land, Your Shape, and, of course, ZombiU.

Ubisoft did not provide an exact reason for the delay.

While I'm sure this sucks for those that are getting the console early, I'm fine with this since I can't afford it any time soon. Still, I'm hoping they make it better.

I heard about that a couple of days ago, and while Legends was the main reason I wanted a Wii U, I still preordered one just a few minutes ago. It's disappointing, but I wouldn't want an unfinished game, especially if I'm that excited for it.

Rayman Legends getting delayed? Well then, I don't have to buy a Wii U at launch.

No... NO! This is my #1 choice for the Wii U!!! Damn... aw well. It's most likely worth the wait.

awesome news, as Rayman is the only Wii U game I have any interest in right now, and longer it takes to come out, the more I can save for it

My guess is that Nintendo and Ubisoft had a word and decided that they didn't want NSMB U and Rayman Legends competing with each other in the launch window (with them both being platformers). I played a very late build of Legends at Eurogamer Expo last week, and it looked very much finished tbh. Fair play to them though if it really is to focus on making it better. I love the direction the franchise has gone in with Origins.
