RE6 will feature 30 hour campaign, drop in/out co-op, and zombies!
A lot of sites had a chance to see Resident Evil 6 in action at Captivate last week. While we didn’t share the esteemed pleasure, there has been a fair amount of news coming out regarding the next AAA title for the franchise. The biggest of which is the interwoven series of stories divided up between three protagonists. In an interview with NowGamer, Sasaki revealed the following details.
Additionally, Destructoid has revealed that each campaign will be co-op with three main characters and their respective supporting characters. The three mains are of course Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and new character Jake Muller. “All campaigns can be played solo or co-op, online or off, with full drop-in, drop-out support”. Lastly, there is a new virus called the C-virus, which is bringing back the original zombie goodness we all know and love. Having been a huge fan of RE5 and its co-op, seeing Capcom build a campaign around those mechanics has me all warm and tingly inside. Don't forget RE6 is releasing on October 2nd now!
So...in other words if I were to choose for example, Leon then I'll stick with him throughout the entire length of the game without switching back and forth between characters right?
Goddammit, not another game with a zombie mode. wait...
It feels like the zombies are simply fan service rather than a RE neccesity.
I dunno about the co-op, I mean co-op is cool and all, but if you have a 2nd person with you all the time, doesn't that take away the scaryness?

oakley polarized Wow! This site:
I like the multiple storyline aspect, especially since Capcom seems to be testing out different playstyles for this game, but I really wish they wouldn't insist with the co-op. I enjoy co-op games, but it is damn near impossible to get any kind of tension while playing them.
I'm partly excited about a 30 hour campaign and part worried. I dunno if I can handle soo much Resident Evil. I'll have to pull through!
Capcom in the last year has had DLC endings, a third of the game's characters be DLC that are on disk, DLC colors, DLC basic game options, DLC sound packs that were part of the past game's console releases, made games from past generations "games on demand" instead of Arcade releases to charge more, DLC combos, DLC in game abilities, DLC costumes that have no alt colors and can't be seen by opponents, and even given all the DLC for their games far fewer options, modes, and content than most of their competition. So yeah, it's probably a very good chance they have all this stuff planned for their biggest game coming out this year. (Remember Resident Evil 5 had a double dipped edition that was the same exact game as normal, except with DLC codes and a higher price. Also it had an on disc DLC multiplayer mode. Expect more of the same.)
Well there are three main character paths, that means 30 hours divided by three meaning ten hours per path, "certain level of overlap" will probably be the last third of the game, so three hours per path meaning six to seven hours of content MAX per path. You cut out the time spent watching people spin kick in slow motion and it'll probably be down to a legitimate four hours per section that you haven't seen before. This is the same company that re-released Resident Evil 5, and every title in recent memory, and given Capcom's track record for the last year or two I am willing to bet this game will be double dipped (and likely PLANNED from the ground up to do so as well). Just... given Capcom's "tendencies" do yourself a favor and wait a week before you pick it up. You know how they are...
Hmmmm.....not bad, but is it scary?
didn't know a 30 hour game is considered a demo now a days...
I am sold, I can't wait till its out. I want the the Leon & Chris coop
...will also probably "feature" on disk dlc, online passes, and various retailer exclusive map packs to sell the game piece by piece to you. CAPCOM: WHEN $60 IS FOR THE DEMO.
Simply having zombies does not make it survival horror. I still boycott you Capcom.
i also like how capcom bumped up the release date. dont be shocked and disappointed when you see day one DLC guys. prolly gonna have to buy the fucking ending or ammo to play this bastard
"C"apcom virus. this game is gonna be a straight up 3rd person shooter with almost no survival horror elements in it. good bye RE and hello resident of war.
Wow that's cool, haven't been able to choose who you want to be since RE2(5 doesn't count cause you have to unlock Sheva and there is very little differences between playing as either).
i hope they dont do the same crappy story pacing they did with revelations. All that hopping around and a literally useless side kick kills the experience, the rare times i actually spent alone on that boat were the finest moments in Revelations
Me and my brother had a fucking awesome time (almost) beating RE5, it was the best co-op experience in a long time. WE HAVE TO BUY THIS.
"Lastly, there is a new virus called the C-virus, which is bringing back the original zombie goodness we all know and love."
Zombies that wield guns anyway...
