ReBoot is being rebooted by Rainmaker Entertainment officially now
ReBoot is one of my all time favorite television shows back in mid 90s. While some of the jokes went over my head (as I wasn't too computer savvy at the time), it was still a show that had never been attempted before. It was a fully rendered, 3D animated TV series following the adventures of a Guardian named Bob who kept the city of MainFrame free from the tyrannical virus MegaByte and his psychotic sister HexaDecimal. Bob was aided by a young sprite named Enzo, along with Enzo's sister Dot.
The show also introduced deadly "Games" that if completed by the "User", would delete a portion of MainFrame. These games were one of the many things that made ReBoot a classic as they were based off real-life games and movies such as Mortal Kombat and Evil Dead.
What made the series so fascinating, however, was the fact that near the end of the show, a ten-year gap would be utilized to show the fall of MainFrame and the rise of MegaByte. These last two seasons took drastic steps in turning this once light-hearted show into a more mature territory. It was kind of like the who Avatar: Last Air Bender series which started very upbeat and silly and ended with a real grown-up war.
As of recently, Netflix has put ReBoot in its entirety on its instant-streaming and if that is not enough to make your inner geek squeal, Rainmaker Entertainment (the company who was responsible for ReBoot as well as the Beast Wars series) has just announced the renaming of their TV development series as "MainFrame Entertainment" with the even bigger announcement that they will be bringing a sequel series of ReBoot back online!
Unfortunately at this moment, they do not have any network backing to air the new series upon but I am sure that will be negotiated in the near future. And for those of you wondering what other projects Rainmaker is working on; they are also the team developing the new Ratchet and Clank movie.
So tell me, g1's. WHO IS EXCITED FOR ReBoot 2.0!?!?
I think his voice actor passed
Hell Yeah! Reboot was amazing!
No! They'll cancel it after 1-2 seasons because they couldn't sell toys.
MMMEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I so want this to be on Cartoon Network. Hopefully they'll take care of the thing with MegaByte at the end of the original series.
I'm afraid they won't take the risk they did with the old show, if they actually go through with this, because let's be honest, a lot of cartoons today are not that smartly written, and plus they have been saying this since they first announced it and they haven't done diddley squat since then. I want some physical proof.
I can't believe I would ever hear such wonderful news!!!!!!!!!! R they actually continuing the story of the original? If so that would be incredible since it ended on a cliff hanger!!!! whatever the format this is amazing news and i'm so glad people remember this show!!!
Jeez! First Sonic, now this! :D
I'm starting to think that breathing new life to old 90s cartoons is the new thing now. And if that's the case, then I say Tiny Toons should be next. XD
YESSSSSS! ReBoot was one of the best shows I had ever seen when I was a kid. It's the worlds first full-length 3D TV show, and the setting was so much deeper and more unique than any cartoon setting I've seen before or since. I am super duper going to watch this.
I actually saw this episode before I ever saw any of the Evil Dead films. Makes me appreciate all the little references I now understand.
As long as we get closure, plus actually happen! Also, Netflix Canada wants ReBoot!
Reboot always creeped me out as a kid. I did not like the primitive 3D animation at all. Though I did remember that episode.
They say this every couple months and nothing happens ever
Well here's to wishing for the best. *Lifts a mug of alcohol.*
I hope the voice talent holds up to the original. I miss Megabytes voice actor.
HexaDecimal was the best
yes one best Canadian show ever made .
i hope it's at least as good as the original was. They never aired the final seasons of the show where i live so until only a few years ago,I assumed the cartoon cancelled...
