Release date, Sackboy plushie pre-order bonus, and costume packs announced for LittleBigPlanet 3
Just because LittleBigPlanet 3’s Beta will only be open to select community members doesn’t mean the rest of the popular PlayStation platformer’s fans can’t get excited for the game’s release, as the series’ community Coordinator – Steven Isbell – recently announced LBP 3’s release date and pre-order bonuses.
Come November 18, LittleBigPlanet 3 will officially release for both of Sony’s popular consoles – the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4. Gamers will finally be able to create, share and play custom levels with the game’s already huge community once again, in addition to playing with brand-new abilities, power-ups and characters, which were revealed at this year’s past E3 event.
But if those features don’t fully attract audiences alone, Isbell went on to detail some additional incentives to those who pre-order the game. Laying down some money early for LittleBigPlanet 3 on either the PS3 or PS4 will grant customers a plush of the series’ mascot, Sackboy – a variant will be available to Target as well. DLC for day one owners will also be included, as a Dragon Age themed costume pack based off of Bioware’s popular RPG franchise is bundled in along with another pack featuring the likes of Nathan Drake, Ellie, Delson Rowe, and a Helghast.
Speaking of costume packs, specific retailers will have their own exclusive pieces of DLC for those who pre-order. GameStop customers will be given the Mythical Creatures pack, while Best Buy pre-orders will receive the Hidden Creatures pack. Pre-ordering digitally on the PlayStation Store will add 4 exclusive t-shirts to Sackboy’s wardrobe, which is transferable across LittleBigPlanet 2, LBP Vita and LBP Karting. Yet, giving Amazon some early dough may be the best bet for PlayStation fans, as this online retailer has a special costume pack that can dress Sackboy like other popular PlayStation characters such as Jax and Daxter, Sly Cooper or Ratchet & Clank.
LittleBigPlanet 3 is the franchise’s first main series entry not to be handled by Media Molecule, but instead by Sumo Digital and xDev – the former with a resume highlighted by Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Forza Horizon 2, whilst xDev’s European branch worked on the first LittleBigPlanet in addition to helming the PlayStation-exclusive game show series, Buzz!
As previously mentioned, LittleBigPlanet 3 was officially unveiled back at this June’s annual E3, where the studios revealed the playable characters of Oddsock, Swoop, and Toogle will bring some gameplay variety to the standard Sackboy. Elsewhere it was mentioned LBP 3 will allow user-created levels from the series’ first two entries to be imported, whilst promising this new installment features 16 layers players can use to create their own boards.
So, g1s, what do you think? Are costume packs and a Sackboy plush alone enough to capture your pre-order? Or would you have picked up the game regardless? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comment section down below!
