Is Resident Evil getting a television series?
Editor's Note: Writer Shawn Christopher Lebert told Polygon that Arklay is very early into its development. He is currently in the midst of writing a pilot and he is negotiating with Mance Media on how to get the project off the ground. So there's a slight chance the target release window of 2015 won't be met.
Right after we received the recent good news about REmake getting an HD port, another Evil curve ball hits us in the face. A company called Mance Media has started pitching a mini-series based on the beloved survival horror franchise. Not much info is available apart from the story synopsis and initial pitch reel but the show's website states it's "coming 2015".
"Inspired by the Resident Evil franchise, ARKLAY is a new scripted survival horror series that delves into the mysterious homicides of Raccoon City.
"When Detective James Reinhardt is thrust into a series of bizarre homicides, he unravels the city is hiding a dark conspiracy. Learning a fatal virus is connected to it all, Reinhardt discovers it's already coursing through him. With time no longer on his side, he must solve the conspiracy to save his own life."
In short, it's a spin-off set in the Arklay mountain region near Raccoon City and focuses on a regular detective trying to uncover the conspiracy around a bizarre string of murders, which take place prior to the events of the first Resident Evil game and Resident Evil 0.
