ReturnOfFable and The Extra Life Marathon

Posted on September 28, 2012 - 1:17pm by ReturnofFable

We are not asking you to donate money if you do not have money to donate. What we want more than anything else is your support. Please, help us in doing the following:

- Sharing our Extra Life donation page with all that you know so we get out message out there.

- Spreading the fact that we are doing the marathon during the marathon so we get a lot of support.

- Donating money if you can. PLEASE, DO NOT DO IT IF YOU CANNOT!

Spread the word. Together, we can all make a difference.

Hey there g1's. We need to talk.

A lot of you know me as that guy that likes to sit in the back of the community and just let things run their course. I typically adopt a "hands off" approach whenever controversy starts to develop in our community.

But right now, I am coming here to all of you to ask you for your help.

I don't do this often. In fact, I fucking never ask for help from anyone. I feel ashamed to do so, it shows weakness in someone and I spent a lot of my younger years being a weak, frail little kid. I hated that part of my life and I never want to go back to it. Your probably wondering "Fable, why the fuck are you telling us this?" The point is, I want you guys to realize how far I am willing to go with this, how far I am willing to go in order to help a hospital that has been a big part of many of my friends lives.

I am participating in the Extra Life marathon on October 20th, 2012. For those of you that don't know, Extra Life is an organization that gets together and, through the power of gaming, raises money for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country. Anyone can sign up through their website to be a part of the marathon, raising money for whatever hospital they choose. The hospital I have chosen is the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, located right in my backyard in Orlando, Florida.

What we have here folks is an opportunity to make a difference and to help out a group of extraordinary people who dedicated their lives to helping sick children. I can think of no nobler cause than this. I have had friends and family who have been touched by this hospital in some way, I know children that would not be alive today if it were not for the men and women who are a part of this organization.

And so I come here, my hat in my hand, asking for you help. Please. Help us make a difference in the lives of people that have given so much to us.

On the day of the marathon (October 20th) myself and many of my friends will be playing video games for 24 hours in order to generate donations for the hospital. During the marathon, we will be streaming the games over on my channel. Our goal is simple, $100, but we know that we can do better. We want to do as much as possible for this people and we know we can do it. But we can only do it with your help! Were not asking you all to donate money, we understand times are tough and we understand that bills and putting food on the table comes first. But that is just a small way you can help us, the biggest way you can help us is by spreading the word.

Were asking all of you to tweet out this blog, spread it as far as you can. Send it to every gaming website, every social networking site, email it to your bosses, your local congregation. Send this as far across the world, whatever it takes. And on the day of the marathon, be there to support us. We'll be streaming, having a good time and trying to keep it all interesting for our viewers. If anything, our job on October 20th is to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere for all of our viewers.

If you have a couple of bucks to spend then by all means, donate. But please don't donate money if it is going to hurt you in the long run. Please, think of yourselves and your situation before you put money towards our goal. If you can spend a few bucks and want to, than thank you for it.

I think that's everything I have to say. As we get closer to the marathon, I will start going into more detail about our plans for the marathon. We have a schedule worked out but we need to tweak it a bit. Hopefully, I will have something to give you guys next week and I will probably keep you updated on a weekly basis until the 20th. Please guys, help me make a difference. I believe in the power this community has when we all get together. Together, we can accomplish great things. Thanks for listening.
