[Rumor] Dead Island might be getting a GOTY Edition

It appears that Dead Island could be the latest big budget title to recieve a special "Game of the Year Edition." Well, that's if a British Board of Film Classification rating listing (which has since been removed) is to be believed at least.

A reporter for Siliconera managed to find the listing before it was removed, but other than a supposed June 30 UK release date, no other details about the possible release could be found. However, since this is a GOTY Edition, it could be assumed that all of the game's previously released DLC (Ryder White, Bloodbath Arena, The Ripper) would be a part of the package.

The game's publisher (Deep Silver) was reached for comment but declined to confirm whether or not this new version of the game is coming.

Will the prospect of this deluxe package be enough to lure more gamers to Banoi? We'll just have to wait and see.

I thought in order to get GOTY edition for a game it had to get GOTY. Dead island is only fun on your first play through, after that it's so boring.

Nah, as long as you have absolutely no shame, you can release a GOTY release for anything.

Its not even fun on the first playthrough. The only possible way to have fun is in coop. NOt to mention didnt this only have 1 piece of dlc? Whats there to add?

It does beg the question as to which reviewer did the publisher buy off to be able to claim a GotY title.

LMAO... Dead Island getting a GOTY Edition? Game of the Year? Really? REALLY? This is the same game whos PC was an an unplayable partially ported 360 Dev Build/Debug Code with the Dev Tools still present at launch. NOONE could play multiplayer, at launch, because the game was looking for but couldn't find XBOX LIVE even though it was a steamworks game. DLC & saves were corrupted by Patches. there was a 70% chance alcohol will autoequip as soon as you pick it up replacing a weapon in hand and possibly making it disappear completely. Kicking with Alcohol equipped caused you to take a swig everytime between kicks... Drink too much and you start falling over and taking fall damage. If you throw a weapon there is a GOOD CHANCE it will dissappear and you will be unable to retrieve it (this almost RUINED Logan & made him unplayable. He is the throwing specialist. He was saved by a Dupe Glitch that has since been "fixed" rendering him pretty much broken, useless, & all but unplayable. There are tons of Crafting and Inventory Glitches that cause weapons & inventory to be replaced and disappear. Crafting Glitches that Put Molotovs in your inventory instead of what you crafted/modded making THAT Item you just spent a shit ton upgrading/Modding to Disappear. And the 1.3 patch caused the Game Crashed on startup thanks to a DAMN TYPO that needs correcting in one of the INI files! ALL partical effects are invisible for MANY users making environmental hazards Like Fire Completely invisible. There are also graphics card & driver compatibility issues. MANY of these glitches were never fixed... So, CLEARLY this game is GOTY material.
