[Rumor] Durango Dev Kit technical specs discovered
8-Core x86 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, DirectX 11.1 Graphics Chip, pretty much a modern PC gaming case right there.
Editor's Note: None of this information has been confirmed, but what you see are the rumored specs of dev kits for Durango that are less than 9 months old. They don't seem out of the realm of possibility, but are hardly official.
According to VGLeaks, they have information on what Durango and Orbis will be. For now we will stick with Durango.

- Durango will support a 8-core x86 CPU, clocked at 1.6 GHz each core.
- A Direct X 11.1 Graphics Processing Unit clocked at 800 Mhz.
- Comes equipped with a 802.11 a/b/n/g Wireless radio frequency.
- A 6x blu-ray drive (hence the 50 GB ODD)
- 8 GB of DDR3 RAM
- A 2nd generation SATA port for Hard drives.... which is strange since we have SATA 3rd generations released.
- Of course a Kinect Port, with a USB 3.0 port
While these specs are impressive, they are not the 10x graphical leaps that Epic games, id software, and other companies wanted. They are around 5x graphical leap from the Xbox 360.
I'm guessing that they have to limit the graphical processing in order to reach the 400$ around MSRP. Still 8 GB of RAM and 8-cores is not something to laugh at. Guessing that the 8-cores are provided by AMD since AMD is the holder of the x86 architecture patent., and the only Intel CPUs that provide 8 cores cost way more than 400$.

Is this for real? I mean, this model is just impressive, hopefully this not just a humor. - AflacAssist.com

I recall that these were part of a rumor that was confirmed as a hoax. Or I'm mixing up the rumors. Too many at this point. We need something official!

Apparently Microsoft uses Microsoft Paint to make their spec maps. Also what console uses regular DDR3?

Those who want to use not expansive RAM I guess... I mean an 8 GB DDR3 goes for about 40-80$ these days.

strange.. they're shooting for a ton of cores but not much throughput in each one.. I guess it could handle plenty but it doesn't sound like much of a leap. With a dx11 card I guess it could handle running and displaying the best graphics you could see on a typical higher (but not highest) gaming pc. Supposedly the PS4 will run video at 4k resolution and be 50% more powerful than this. So hm.. my anticipation for these 2 systems is still not peaked.

The PS3 was also supposedly able to run at 120Hz for all of it's games, yet not a single one did because of the strain on the GPU.

I bet it could at say, 480P. lol. but yeah I guess that spec never panned out, and there is a good chance what's being said of the ps4 is going to be b.s. when looked at in practical real-world terms for game design. WHich means there is a great chance the gap between the xbox and PS next gen won't be all that great, especially if designers making multi-console releases don't do much to enhance/tweak games for one system over another.
ShinraCorp
Ya but to be honest, if the PS4 wants 4k resolution it needs a beefy GPU to display all the 4k processing.

I doubt Sony will use 4K in their next system.
